First and foremost, welcome to Make Me a Superhero! This will be a weekly challenge of sorts. In which all posters are welcomed to post a design for the challenge. There really aren’t all that many rules for this thread.
- The picture of your design should be cropped to 550x800.
- Criticisms are welcomed, but in a polite and civil way. We don’t want to put anyone down, but help to improve their work.
- On every other Wednesday I will post the challenge. If you are interested in participating in the challenge of question, post the picture (via photobucket, imageshack, etc.) and a brief description of the characters back story, powers, and how your character ties into the challenge. You have until 11:59 p.m (CST) on Sunday to post your entry.
- That following Monday, I will post a voting thread, in which everyone is free to vote for which character they liked the most.
- The winner of that challenge get’s to choose the next challenge.
- After a competitor has entered their entry, please pm me with your idea for the next challenge, before the voting period ends.
- Once again this is just a friendly design contest. So no eliminations. Furthermore, there is no commitment involved with Make Me a Superhero. So if you feel like playing one week and not the next, which is perfectly fine.
And to end it off… have fun!
Challenge: For your sixth challenge, I invite you to redesign our favorite British to Asian purple-haired chick, Psylocke.
Please choose your favorite design in the poll above.

I had a couple of hours to kill this morning so I whipped this up. I wanted something form-fitting, fun, and vaguely reminiscent of Psylocke's outback armor. It's a little messier than I like, but I did have fun.

Aljira
so what i did was tap into her ninja background more...so more asian flava...
had her wear shades of purple too...
somehow her face turned more cartoony than what i envisioned her to be but i guess it's still ok...

I played off the subtle asymmetry of her ninja bathing suit and amplified it a bit more. Plus, I wanted to give a "fashion forward" feel to it, to reference her time as a model, since she does has a "to-die-for" body. And for the color, I decided she could move away from the blue and purple. So instead I made it white with hints of a pale purple, almost as an iridescent feel.

I voted for AnkaleRa's design. I loved that he went with the white instead of purple. I loved the asymmetrical nature of the design. I liked the layered look a lot. I think he did a good job of bringing the sexy without succumbing to the slutty. The only minor point I'd disagree with are the heels. It would be harder for her to fight in theme there heels. But as she's a comic book character I'm sure she could manage somehow. :) Overall the design was the freshest and the most fun of the designs submitted.

AnkaleRa's design truly is innovative for Betsy (bravo!!!) but there are some things that doesn't sit well with me...
the square peepholes and the stripes on her right leg...the weave-like pattern looks really good but the straight lines don't break it nicely. there must me some other way... :P
the uber-pale almost whitish purple color...i dunno- it's not her color...it's emma's (hehehe). i mean, she's a ninja. ninjas use stealth and the cover of night while working and the purplish-white defeats the whole stealth purpose. but then again, there's Naruto and his colorful colleagues so why am i complaining. mwah!!!
so despite my gripes, i still like it. heck, i'm even gonna vote for it. mwah mwah!!!
ps
don't you guys think that this is my best coloring so far? doesn't my betsy look smooth and silky? hehehe.

All of the designs were very attractive and there wasn't one design that I didn't like. So in order to decide on a vote, I had to go with a process of elimination. Hank Solo's and YIP's designs were both extraordinary and lovely pieces of art, but they both were too bulky and clunky, and I don't imagine Psylocke would have much ease being stealthy with all that equipment on her back and shoulders. I appreciate the detail put into her costume though, and it made her look more like a traditional ninja with all the little ninja stars and pockets to hold items in. So job well done Hank and YIP. I liked both of your designs, but there were other designs I was more fond of.
Antoningunifex, your Psylocke design exquisite on so many levels. I appreciate that you took the oppurtunity to cover her body instead of making another thongtastic outfit for her. And the two shades of purple on the costume makes for great contrast and design. The white circles and lines and designs on her costume are wonderful! I think it gives it a little sci fi effect to it. That costume looks like it could fit right in with the X-Men movies wardrobe. Fantastic job antoningunifex, but your design wasn't my favorite.
Aljira and AnkaleRa however will be extremely difficult for me to choose from. Each of the designs is innovative in its own way, and both are striking and appealing as well. They both have such strong visuals and I'm dying to see Psylocke in both of them! Aljira's design was phenomenal when I first saw it. The veil was spectacular, and I'm in love with the see through fabric on parts of the costume. It also has some Asian inspired designs and embroidery on it, and I think had those designs been left off of the costume, the costume would be a lot more bland and not as compelling. And the chains and trinkets on the sleeves and hips are outrageous! You did an exceptional job Aljira!
As for my baby's daddy's design, your design is truly grand and dare I say fabulous. Ms. Braddock could strut the catwalks of Paris and Italy in that little number, and still find the time to fight crime while looking marvelous all at the same time. The layered weaved look on the top and pants is something never imagined or brought forth on the pages of a comic book for a superhero to wear. The design is so different from her other costumes and traditional looks that the design almost makes you forget about all those other horrible costumes she's had. However...although your design is fantabulou on so many levels...I'm going to have to betray my baby's daddy and vote for Aljiras!!!
I'm sorry AnkaleRa, please forgive! I just loved Aljira's design, and I hope you won't file for divorce! :frown:

Dern Peoples!...this is a hard one. Everyone's design is diffrent. Some more fashionable, some with more weaponary, some in a more powered-up mode, and one totally costume revamp. So where does that leave the voter's decision? I like them all because if your design showed what i just pointed out, you did them very, very well and I still think Marvel needs to see this thread.
The only artist I am going to point out in this thread is, yes, Aljira your colors are totally smashing! and the purple hues had to be hard to work with and you nailed it my friend.
Since I like them all, some more than others and they all bring a diffrent facet to the table, I am going to go with YIP's, because that design has a more powered look from the larger psyonic blade. But thanks to all for posting!

I went with Atoning's design because I felt like it really captured the original essence of Psylocke, before she was made all ninja-ey. It looks like she has a lot of class in it, but could still seriously kick your butt like a ninja.

All great designs this round, but I had to go with Chad's. It sharp, it's sleek, it's chic, it's perfect.

People who had participated in this challenge. Please PM me your idea for the next challenge so I can set that up as soon as voting ends.
Also, MORE PEOPLE SHOULD VOTE! This thread has had over 200 views... we only have had 14 people vote. What's up with that!?

I have noticed this as well for it happens on the Seqential Challenge too. I can't think of a valid reason for the huge views and low votes ratio....anyone have any ideas and may someone please say why they view and NOT vote? No bashing here, to each their own I say, but I am definately curious
