Like the title says, how often do you use your cell phone and why?

Hmmm, I want to vote for both one and four. I own a cell phone, and it's my only phone, but I don't use it all that much.

I use it all the time ... well, except at work, where the signal can't get through. Although for some odd reason, my beeper can ... :shrugs:

You work at a hospital right? they might have set up signal blockers there that alows some signals past (like beepers) but not Cell phones..

some hospitals do that however with the modern cellphone systems its pointless, as they do not interfere with anything other then Speakers and old TV's (and old wireless stuff.. )

I am not so self obsorbed that i think the world must be able to reach me at all times.

my phone is almost two years old, probably gonna die on me soon.

Rarely, couple of minutes total a week tops I'd think, but I always take it with me.

Do cell phone companies even bother to cover Canada? Theres like what three people near where you live?

I mean talk about remote, look at the aussies, they got a guy so desperate to sell cell phones he sets him self on fire during his commercials.

My wife usually has it with her. So, personally, not a lot. However, when we travel we definitely have it on and available.

And it's just a phone. Nothing more. No texting, no taking of pictures, etc.

hate them. I use it only when necessary.

I use my cell phone as my watch, alarm clock and a video game player on the bus. I haven't had it hooked up to a phone service in a couple of years.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. I hated it as a phone when it was hooked up. Too annoying. I don't need to be able to be contacted everywhere I am. Never again.

My cell is the only phone I have and I don't use it all that much. I checked the call timer and I've had the phone for about 2 years and the total time for all calls is just over 29 hours.

Same here. I even have it turned off most of the time. Which irritates chatty relatives, but they can always send an email if it's major.

Ironically, it's a Treo and thus costs a lot per month. But when I want to use it, it's quite worth it. I just only use it on my terms.

Gotta say I use it a lot. I use it for work where there are time sensitive issues to be dealt with. Personal calls because I have a pretty big extended family, ie kids who need to coordinate pick ups, drop offs and other things. I like to be reached when someone wants to reach me, especially if there is an emergency to deal with or something. I would rather be reachable, even if it is an inconvenience sometimes, because if there ever is a case where time makes a difference, that is when personal time takes a back seat to family responsibility.

I don't have one. All my siblings and 99% of kids I knew in my childhood survived without a cellphone btw.

I don't like contributing to them either because there's been no research done on their tranmistors, and they have relay towers hidden everywhere. Even on rooftops or churches. Which can cause cancer. It's ridiculous. Does everyone really constantly needs to talk to people at a distance while walking?

I try to use it very little. I hate the damn things.

Oh yeah. If I had kids it would be totally different.

I don't use mine much; just for family use mostly. I use it mainly as a notepad and a clock; plus it has 3D Snake on it.

Recently, i didn't charge it for 2 weeks. And after nearly four years, i still haven't set up my voicemail.

even though i have a home line, I pretty much use my cell all the time. For alarm clock, car phone, etc. I sure hope there's nothing to the theory about them causing brain cancer.

Maybe once a year. I have a prepaid one, so it's not like I'm paying for a plan or anything.

I picked up the cheapest mobile I could find last year. It doesn't go on the net, it doesn't play music, it doesn't have games or a camera, it's just a phone.

So far I use it an average of once a month, but it's useful to have when you are travelling, particularly if you need to coordinate with someone else who is also travelling.

I was going to buy a Blackberry just before Christmas but I bought a iNQ Chat 3G instead which looks like a Blackberry and has a lot of the functions but cost about half as much at Ģ99.

I also have a year and a half old Sony Ericsson phone too which has decent functions but can be a bit slow at times and occasionally the sim card has to be removed and reinserted. The metallic colouring is peeling off too.

I generally just use my phone to call home when I'm out as I use my landline phone at home because I get free calls at any time. I can also call my parents on their mobile for free because they're on the same network and I get free same network calls as part of my phone package.

I generally prefer using apps and functions to using the phone and I play a lot of games and use the camera quite often. My phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera which isn't top level but it still produces good clear images.

I'm on the 3 network as a pay as you go (non-contract) customer which limits the number of phones available but every phone on their network is 3G compatible.

I use it all the time. My roommates and I didn't see a point in having a landline and paying an extra bill. I may not be as bad as other people with their phones...but I do love mine a lot.

The real question these days is more like "when do you use any OTHER kind of phone?"

I mean I still have a land-line, but only because I'm still stuck on DSL in my neighborhood instead of fiber.

Of course there will be people who still use traditional land lines. I suspect as long as those exist there always will be. But its shrinking. To a relatively small number.

Here's another one for you...

When the last time you used a payphone? Heck, when's the last time you even SAW a payphone? I'd love to see some statistics on payphone replacement rates when they wear out. I bet these days many of them DON'T get replaced--they simply get eliminated.

All the time. It's like lifeline when I'm not on the computer (though, it does handle AIM, which is nice). I can text instead of talk, which is good for a variety of time zones, and it's small enough to go everywhere with me. I don't have a landline because with just *me* in the apartment, that's a waste of money. My phone plan is cheaper for everything I get.

A couple times a day. I could really do without it but I used to work on call so I had to have it nearby.
