I read this book and i really like it.
I was really excited with the final 8/7 pages of number 7 and i'm looking forward to read issue number 8.
How do you think gary will react? will he join forces with the elder brood and hunt Zecharia and *spoiler* the (now) vampire super-hero team (i can't never remember the name of the team)?
What do you think?

The elder brood is that group of wolves who fought gary in issue 5 (i think).
Kirkman said that this next story arc would include them.

I read it - have since that start. I need a little more consistency from this title on a shipping schedule before I can talk about it much though. I have to pull out the last issue everytime I buy a new one because I can never remember what happened.

Kirkman - love him and hate him,

Yes it is monthly now - or supposed to be. Kirkman talked about this when he was at Wizard World Chicago and thought it would be timely. The real hard part is Invincible is far behind and there is a cross over coming up and the second part of the story is in AWM so it would be hard to part 2 to come out before part 1.

No. Gary is the elder brood, which means that the werewolf who turned him was an elder, one of the original werewolves.

I love the book, the twist at the end of issue 7 was great. Is it weird that I'm most interested in finding out more about Mecha-Maid? That bit with her daughter was creepy.

I really need to buy issue 5 of this awesome series. XD I just started collecting the series around in July, and I will confess that Astounding Wolf-Man is good stuff.

Just read all of the released issues.

WOW!

I'm really impressed. So far, the first 8 issues are much better than Walking Dead or Invincible's.

I'll post more detailed impression later since i'm in a hurry right now.

Does this book take place in the same universe as invincible.

Yes, because there's a crossover hapening. AWM doesn't seem like the universe-travelling type, so I'll say yes.

On topic, I love this title. Just another example of Image knocking them dead each month. I love everything I read of Kirkman's.

I love how Kirkman isn't afraid to shake up the status quo, like, at all. One of the benefits of creator owned, I suppose. Anyway, I'm really digging the Hulk-on-the-run vibe. I hope he sticks with that, if only for a few more issues.

After the fantastic issue 7, issue 8 was just bad. stupidly padded with no tension whatsoever and the art was a let down compared to previous issues. I usually keep Wolf Man until last to read because it is so full of content. This issue read in about a minute. We had a whole issue and all that happened was Gary travelled to where he was bit, literally nothing else. If this is the result of going monthly I'm feeling badly let down. Aeter the events of issue 7 this is what you follow it up with? I think you may lose as many buyers as you would have gained from the release of the TPB.

I wouldn't worry Verminous. In this issue we saw Gary's new life and his new intention. The issue set up a new status quo, and the ending portended a good #9, don't you think?

Did everyone pickup the Monster Pile Up 1.99 issue that came out a month or so back? It had the Funeral for Gary's wife in it. Seemed strange that it wasn't included in issue 8.

A great ending, Gary is hoping from one mentor to another, after getting his revenge he had better decide for himself what being the Wolf-man means, or he will just keep getting used as a pawn in the conflict.

I wouldn't call it a bad issue, but it didn't have as much plot progression as i would have liked.

Is this title worth picking up? If I did I'd buy the trade that just came out. I had read the first issue because it was handed out on free comic day and I really didn't like it that much... did it get better after the first issue? I like Kirkman a lot so I have hope for it.

I'm in the same boat -- the freebie did nothing for me. Then again, while I'm a gigantic horror fan I can't work up any enthusiasm at all for vampires & werewolves these days in any media (though I was quite a fan of Marvel's Tomb of Dracula & Werewolf By Night back when they were on the spinner racks), so probably it's not for me anyway. Oh, well.

Well, how much is the TPB? If you buy it and like it, you're golden. If you buy it and it's not that great, then you might put it away and come back to it later and see if things are different. When I'm in a predicament like you are, I see if my local library has it. That way, no money's involved.

One thing I've always found with Kirkman's titles is tthat it takes a few issues to really get going. He sets so much up in the early issues and then bam!, the "real" story starts.

It was that way with Invincible and the Walking Dead for me, after a few issues it just clicked and they became some of favorite reads each month.

True, but one little nitpick-- if Gary wears a superhero costume to control the bad PR a giant wolf-man would get, but is currently a fugitive from justice who is believed to have murdered his wife, isn't the costume kind of a lost cause? ( I would personally prefer to see Wolf-Man without it. )

I guess he digs the costume.

In the back of the trade there's a design for Wolf-man with a hood. Kirkman said he might use that design someday.

His first reason for wearing the costume might have been PR, but he's since gotten other reasons for it. Art designed it with those "moon storage disks" or whatnot so he could stay in wolf form longer. And in the most recent issue he goes to save some innocents from a monster and puts the costume on because he says people are calmer when they're saved by someone in a superhero outfit, rather than just a werewolf. He has been wearing the costume a lot less while on the run though.
