....Okay, I'm already feeling really stupid making this the first thread I've made here at CBR...let's see if I actually post this. Alright, does anyone have any ideas on how to reomove something(Not even sure what it is....)from a foot, that may be already fairly deep into the foot, as painlessly as possible? Mind you, I am the biggest sissy in the world when it comes to my blood, pain, and sticking sharp objects in me.

Woah....I think I'm actually going to post this....Stop me before I hit the "Submit New Thread" button! Hur-...Too late.

I stepped on a nail once (oh boy did that hurt). Employ the help of the nearest relative, I always say.

Oooo, ooo, I know this one! An ax! No, wait, a backhoe!

No, seriously, depending on how bit the thing is, usually a needle.

Batgirl
08-28-2008, 02:43 PM
An ax? ...Good idea! I always thought this foot was useless, anyway. Now, if it was my RIGHT foot, I wouldn't even consider it.

Yeah, I guess I'll just end up having to use a needle....

I guess it sort of depends on what exactly you got stuck in your foot to begin with.

I'm hesitant to agree with Bear, but enlisting someone's help seems reasonable. And obviously, get somebody to look at it to make sure it doesn't get infected or anything.

Yeah, I'm defiently going to have to have my mom help me....I don't think I'd be able to remove it myself. (I'm only thirteen, remember.)

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what it is in my foot. It could be a thorn, but you'd think I would've realized I stepped on something with a thorn. (We have this huge boganvilla(I murdered that word...)plant out back, and some of the branches lie on the ground...)

if it's rusted metal ask your mom if you need a tetanus shot

Batgirl
08-28-2008, 04:52 PM
No, it is DEFINETLY not rusted metal. *Shudder* I looked at it again, and it looks brown-ish.....we have a bunch of chipped stone out back(Our patio is rock, and some pieces have chipped off over the years), so maybe it's that.

Get a vat of liquid nitrogen, put your foot in it, and wait for everything to become comfortably numb. Once that's happened, just tap your knee with a tiny little hammer, and your whole lower leg will just painlessly fall to pieces onto the floor.

I think that's your best bet for painless!

Since you're only 13, you've probably never seen the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore Tarzan sketch.

nail? unless it's serrated in some way, just pull out and get thee a shot from the doctor. ;)It could be a thorn

woody or splintery things are tricky. They tend not to come out in one piece and can infect.

I've had splinters, glass, etc. It's not so bad, but the thing is to get as much as you can out, And then, try to stay off that foot for some time as the body (foot) will naturally 'push' out fhe foreign object by itself over time, creating new layers of sole and all.. It may be stingy for a while, but it will eventually get out.

good luck! ;)

You appear to have one too few...

Ice might seriously help to numb it and reduce swelling making it easier to pluck. Although, hopefully by now you've go it out and are sipping virgin pina coladas.

Also good advice if you find yourself having sex with some woman you don't know, and don't remember how you got there. Or why there's a man chained to the wall.

If I were you, I would go see a shaman or a traditional healer. Or if none of those were available, I would go to the doctor.

Bah! A needle, some tweezers, ice and a dark towel to catch the blood. That's how we do it in Brooklyn!

Take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Ha! I think it's gone! My foot doesn't hurt anymore...So, that either means that it came out, or it found it's way into my bloodstream and is on it's way to my heart and I will die a slow and horrible death. .....Let's hope it's the first one.

Paradox

Well, that doesn't mean you can't try some of the remedies anyway.

That liquid nitrogen one looked all sciencey interesting.

Most likely. The body's pretty good about expelling stuff. I had a doctor leave a chunk of suture in my foot, and after about ten years it managed to push its way to the surface. Not pretty.

My niece got a toothpick stuck in the bottom of her foot once and the doctor said removing it would cause too much damage. He said just to wait until it came out of the other side of her foot, and it did.

When it came out she had to walk on crutches. She was still on crutches when the family decided to go to a crowded amusement park. Because of her incapicitated state they let all of us go on the rides without waiting in line. It was wonderful.

The family decided that they would always have someone faking it on crutches if they ever went to an amusement park again.

My old roomie Amy had a busted up knee for years, and even had a handicapped parking license. It was de riguer for us to go right to the front of any concert lines, etc with her in her leg brace and crutches that she really didn't need. So she had SOME use.

It's safer with the axe. And avoid chainsaws! It will splatter blood everywhere:biggrin:

Heat up a large needle on the stove, and use that, then pour either alcohol or hydrogen peroxide over it.

Also, as already said, get help with this.

Doesn't sound like any more help is needed. Sounds like it came out to me. She'd know if it was still in there. If nothing else, a tiny bit is still in there, minor effects of infection will show up in a day or two. MINOR, nothing to be worried about. If so, then get it checked out.

It's just a sliver, it's not a gash from a rusty blade. I don't think there's any chance of gangrene here, and considering she's only 13, any tetanus shot she's ever had in her life is likely to still be effective.

How do you get to be 13 and never had a tetanus shot? Don't they give you one as a matter of course somewhere along the line?

Or maybe that's one of those things they did in my youth that they no longer do (there are many things like that).

Batgirl
08-31-2008, 11:41 AM
Maybe it has to do with school....I'm homeschooled, and I've never gone to an actual school. Or, like you said, they might not do that anymore.....I really wouldn't know. ^^'

I remember getting a tetanus shot...

Although it was quite a traumatic experience. I hate needles more than anything. I can take them now, but it still sets my heart at about 280 bps

Hm.....I don't know why, but for some reason, I thought you were in your 30s, possibly even 20s. ^^' ....That was random.

Hm.....I can't really remember the last time I got a shot. But I HATE 'em. Needles? Ugh.....I don't like the concept of sticking something sharp into me. I have double pierced ears, and I haven't worn earrings for years. The main reason is because I don't like the whole prospect of sticking something in my ear, but also because they're too....girly(Yes, I know I'm a girl...).

The first time I ever had one was when I was 19 after I was in a car accident and I went to public school. I think usually they're pretty much given "as needed".

Shit, I was thinking of getting an earring.

Don't tell Ben, he would want his hero to be less a man. Plus, by now I think your holes probably healed.
