I just finished reading the TPB, which collects the 4 issue mini series written by Brian Azzarello. I decided to pick it up since I liked El Diablo's appearences in the newest Jonah Hex series. I will say I was little dissapointed. I just felt as if this story dragged on a bit. I mean it wasn't bad, and had its moments, but I didn't think it was great.

Anyone else read third?

Also, if anyone picks up the new "El Diablo" series, which is starting September 3rd, let me know how it is.

Gracias.

I want to read, but i just cant get past his Zezelj.
He's one of the few artist that i might pass up a book because he is on it.
Too muddled, I did like his marvel work from a few years back.
I think its the quality if the paper vertigo uses doesn't help matters.

Of course, this was originally published years before the current Hex series and is completely unnecessary to read in conjunction with that.
It's a mess. If it weren't Azzarello the mini would have been justly forgotten.

and I'm not talking about the art being a mess, the story was crap, took the interesting aspect of Lazurus Lane out of it and turned El Diablo in to a simple ghost of vengeance. do bad and he gonna getcha.

The current Hex version got it right by ditching the Indian Shaman from the 70's version but to ditch Lazurus literally and figuratively took the human element out.

I had no idea this was written in 2001 and I wrongly assumed it was just written in the past year or so since the publishing date is 2008. It is a mistake I will learn from.
