This issue did a better job of explaining things. It's almost like # 1 and 2 were one long issue. Here Majestic not only explains his motivations but also gives us lots of info about Savant, why he chose Hawaii, why he's not at his own base and even has a resolution to their 'little' conflict that started the fight in the first place. Majestic's view of things is scary because it has elements of truth. He's trying to start humanity over but modeled after Kheran ways and using his power as a deterent to any who stand in the way of that dream. He sounds like a Nazi when he goes through the Wildcats' roster and tells each of them why they are or are not worthy of the new world he's trying to create. And then to see the humans side with him and acutally take his offer makes sense but it makes you feel bad for the Wildcats because you know that they're trying their best to help people but how can they compete with what Majestic is offering?
This is such an appropriate reaction for the Wildcats because it seems that ever since Majestic and The Authority came into the world, the Wildcats see that with no Void and no superpowered Spartan, they are outmatched which now makes them the underdogs. And people love to route for underdogs.
The back-up story was very cool. The art and the battle scene were spectacular. My only regret is that Dane got the call from Lynch so soon in this story although I expect him to struggle with answering Lynch's request because of what they're dealing with in Asia. So that will be interesting to see.

This issue does a great job of shedding some light on Majestic's new outlook in a scary, but logical way...the exhange between Spartan and Majestic was fantastic

Yeah, Gage did a lot to redeemed himself in my eyes. If it weren't for Majestic's willingness to kill his old allies (friends?), I'd say he was pretty much a legitimate good guy. Also, bad guy or not, the idea of Majestic fighting off an army of superhumans nonstop for an entire day and night is bad ass. Only thing that bugs me is Majestic's base is a hollowed out cliff-side with a motherlode of tech, which Maj is apparently ignoring in favor of raiding the cats.

Did he? or he gather more tech beyond wat he had at his Mt. Rushmore base?

I took:The people of Hawaii asked me to stay and lead them, Grifter. Had they not, I would have returned to my base at Mount Rushmore.to mean he hadn't gone back at all.

That quote does make it seem that way, but why would he raid Halo corp if all that tech was just sitting there not used?

No, he's gone back. He salvaged whatever tech was undamaged from Rushmore, but Hawaii is a big place...he needed more.

This is a great time to be a Wildstorm fan again!
I'm loving Wildcats so far. At first I was a bit nervous of how Hadrian would be portrayed considering he was decked out in the old uniform and using his old name. My worries were blown away as glimpses of his Jack Marlow phase shined through.
Liked the approach of Majestic. Enjoying each cast member so far. Can't wait for the next issue.
Also the Dane part had me happy! Love towards members of Team7 leaves me all warm and fuzzy. Wetworks <3<3<3

I wasn't really liking the first issue of the new Wildcats. Probably because I loved the Casey-version so much and this takes quite a turn into a different direction, but seeing the second issue being rather liked here. I'll give it another shot.

Cool. Hope you like it. So far what we're seeing is that the current Wildcats is a mix of everything that's come before, even Casey's version.

Well, now we know why the pointless Savant as Zealot's daughter retcon happened.
Is there no editors for the Wildstorm books? No one who keeps track of what is goin on?
Majestic fought maddened post-humans in Hawaii? Who what? I get that was the idea of the Armageddon mini series, but THAT'S NOT WHAT Y'ALL HAD HAPPENED, IS IT?
There weren't frog men and lizard guys attacking Hawaii. There were a bunch of High Clones. That's it.
In NOTB, the WildCats last scene was about going and finding Majestic and keeping him from going off his rocker. They knew what he was going to do, yet according to this book, they decided to not bother with it.
I know most of the comic reading public didn't bother to read NotB and it's lead up series, but you'd think the people making the books would have.

Yeah, that was one of the weird things about it. In Wildstorm: Armageddon everyone described a huge amount of superhumans fighting it out across the world. But it seems now that some were fighting High clones while others seemed to be taking advantage of it and fighting each other. It's not clear, but it seems that Majestic was fighting as the High clones all went nuclear and continued to fight even afterwards. At least that's what I gathered.

I got the impression that since the SPB's were really the only people that made it through Armegeddon without diminished numbers, then they were all fighting for what was left over. That's how it seemed in the Tranquility Armeggedon Special.

The High clones were the ones who caused Armageddon, but there were other SPB's in stasis who got out (like the Paladins in NOTB) and many of them were maddened and went on a rampage. We saw some of them in part 1 of the Lynch backup story. More about this will be revealed in future backup stories.

Not really following the whole end of the world thing. I missed armageddon an all that jazz while i was busy waiting for Wildcats #2 to be released but I suppose Morrison and Lee have better things to do. So far the worlds end is decent. Just glad to see my favorite characters on paper again and not sharing a title with midnighter.

Yeah, the majority of us have stopped thinking about Lee/Morrison's Wildcats and decided to focus on those people at WS who have helped pull this universe back together and actually get us some good comics on the stands. And on time too!

I thought in NOTB that the whole point of where they were being held is that it had 666 inmates, and the High made it 667 (a guard commented that they should change the name). The Paladins and their enemies only made up a small fraction of that number.
Plus, (I havent got #5 yet) but what about all of the SPBs that were being captured in NEW DYNAMIX. Did they escape and join the rampage? That's a hell of a lot of superhumans right there, not including the High clones.

According to Christos Gage's post above, The High clones weren't the only ones fighting, it was also all the superhumans (good and bad) including the ones seen in New Dynamix.

I think the NotB was named after the 666 inmates that were put in the VR tubes even though more bunkers were added with more prisoners.

They did escape and probably joined the fray, either fighting the escaped bad guys or the Highzarros.

Not necessarily every imprisoned superhuman went on a rampage, but a lot did. And the 666 were not the only ones...stay tuned to the backup stories for more info!

Still not sure if this new Wildstorm universe is good... or not. I like the basic scenario, as I have always liked dystopian future scenarios. Just don't know if there's really a plot hidden in this one. The story is not bad, but way below what Alan Moore made out of Wildcats way back. (It certainly is way better than what happened AFTER Moores run).
The backup stories don't do anything for me cause I'm only buying Cats and Authority.
So the question is, does it justify the 3 bucks to spend every month to follow what's going on? I'll wait and read and see, but I'm not very enthusiastic about the start of this (and Armageddon was rather bland in my eyes...)

I would say yes, but ultimately that's up to you to decide, also we’re only two issues in and Gage used it to set up Majestic as an antagonist down the line and think used Spartan to foreshadow that, but I’m definitely loving the ‘Cats so far and any writer that can get me to like Ladytron is all aces in my book

You don't like Lady Tron chris? I don't know why, but that surprises me. My favorite use of her was in Wildcats 3.0 when Grifter had remote control of her body. That was awesome!

There was something that always bothered me about her, even her date with Maj in his original series bothered me...maybe cause she reminds me of all the cliched 90's characters

Hey, she IS a chliched 90's character... but that doesn't mean you can't make her interesting... I thought she was a very interesting character when Moore invented her and heavily underused afterwards...
