I picked up yesterday vol 1 that was a huge softcover. I knew he did some series called War Stories and just picked it up cause it was the newest trade of Ennis.

It was beteween this vol and Preacher, im very happy with the choice

I was awed by the first two stories i have read so far Johann's Tiger and D-Day Dogders.

Great drama, very sad and tragic. It was calm and full of melancoly for an Ennis work but it was very special. I like the artists that all have style that fit perfectly in.

Weston,Higgins are very very good !

Any fans this series ?

You... have read Preacher though, right?

I got volume 1 & 2 of War Stories. I thought volume 1 was better, though don't take that to mean volume 2 isn't any good. I think volume 2 was the one with the British, Spanish, German and Irish soldiers stuck in a trench together. If it sounds like the setup for a joke, that's because it kind of is

I'll sometimes give these to people when they're looking to get away from superheroes (I would'nt actually trust anybody with Preacher  ). Looking forward to reading more Ennis war comics soon (October right?)

Of course i have read Preacher, Ennis is the best comic writer in the bizz today. I read anything of his no matter how comic/sick/anal it is "ahem " Chronicles of wormwood ;)

Even if i think Preacher is somewhat overrated for an Ennis i wouldnt miss any of his books let one of his best. I rate Max Punisher higher than Preacher and Hitman as high.

I thought instead of reading vol 4 of Preacher i could try something new to me from him.
War Stories vol 1 trade was so big and new in The Vertigo book shelf that it grabbed my eye. I was like "War Stories ?" "wooow isnt that GARTH ENNIS'S famous War series !!" :P

Is there a vol 3 of War Stories thats awesome :D

Which story is your favorit in vol 1 ?

I really liked Vol.1......Vol.2 was good but for some reason didn't seem as good as the original wave of War Stories one-shots.

Sadly, there's no Vol.3 of War Stories. But Garth keeps writing tons of war-related comics to take its place.

That was a great, haunting story. Ennis' Enemy Ace: War in Heaven is pretty stellar too.

That was a great, haunting story. Ennis' Enemy Ace: War in Heaven is pretty stellar too.

It was haunting and emotional. Despite the many years beteween us i was angry that the thing the soldiers in D-Dodgers was accused of. Important historical context there. Too much D-Day focus is todays history books about the great war. Specially in schools.

Also a Vertigo book ? Or was Enemy Ace a marvel book ?

I will get every of his old war comics.

Of course im looking forward to his Battlefield series from dynamite.

Any other good war stories he has done ?

I know only of War stories, the new Max one War is Hell with Chaykin(that ruined it).

Is Brit a good war comic for an Ennis ?

I'll have to give this another shot. I am a huge Ennis fan and I purchased this about 6 months ago. I read the first story, then set this book aside and have been reading others. I'll pick it back up and read the entire thing.

Me too, Battlefields looks like the closest thing we will get to seeing War Stories volume III.

My favourite issue from the original run was Condors. I could see it being adapted as a really good ensemble film.
