oh hell yes, Captain COld and the TRUE Rogues are being put up against those poseurs from Gotham Underground, plus they made him mad....

Is it just me or are the opening pages of this mini's 2 issues so far very......weird?
Kolins worked in some rain effect in #1's opening few pages, and it looked almost horrible. But then the rest of the issue was just great.
Now for some reason these shots of the various Society folks and the Rogues cutaways looks a bit off, yet the latter pages in this preview again look great.

Bah, Axel should know who Gambi is, he told him to cram it during the Identity Crisis tie-in. Plus, for having a rainbow theme Roy's costume was actually pretty cool...imho. Though Weather Wizard's 'OMG, no!' face when they find their tailor in peril kind of makes up for Axel being a (lovable) forgetful dimwit.
Also, Captain Cold remains awesome.

indeed Axel is a moron and jerk but I honestly can't help but love the little jerkoff.
also those new Rogues are going down, COld is one of those guys in the DCU you do NOT mess with. Just by principle that they're stealing their act is enough to give them a reason to end their lives, but now they've pissed him off...

Ok, I retract my earlier "Kolins art looks a bit off in the first couple pages" remark. The art in the book is FANTASTIC.
And when I saw them debut in GOTHAM UNDERGROUND, I had no idea these new Rogues were in fact New Rogues. And now none of that matters, 'cause they're dead Rogues. Hee hee.

This issue was SICK!!!
If you didn't think the Rogues were cool before this series, you will now. Especially Captain Cold.

What a fantastic issue. Johns is bringing it on his Crisis books.

Fan-flipping-tastic.
Best moment of the issue: Heat Wave vs. Burn.
Only thing I didn't like was the repeated references to Bart as "Kid Flash" at the time of his death. They made a big effort to portray him as the Flash, and that's just gone out the window.
I've posted a full review on my blog (http://speedforce.org/2008/08/rogues-revenge-2-review/).

It annoys me that the characters keep referring to Bart as Kid Flash. He was the Flash when it died and should be referred to as such. It feels like Johns is rubbing dirt on the wounds of good ol' Bart.

ok. so in the end, libra got josh jackam (revealed to us a long time ago as mardon's son).
iris allen already adopted josh right? so why is she feeling happy that barry's back and is crying tears of joy instead of wondering where her "son" is? inconcistencies? i am giving geoff the chance to explain this.
overall im going to give this 2 thumbs up. i love how the rogues acted like the brutal rogues we all love. kick ass.

Brilliant issue.
In a perfect world, Johns would still be writing the Flash books.
The Rogue beatdown was sick. Especially Weather Wizard against the Abra Kadabra rip.

I think all the tie ins are really delivering. I wasn't going to bother with them but they have drwan me in. This one's a real cracker.

Johns has said repeatedly that it was mandated by editorial and that he hated the idea. That it was an example of how little DC understood the character. And to be honest he was right. If someone forced you to do something that would screw up one of your favourite characters, wouldn't you be a little pissed/resentful?

Definitely a great issue... loved the call-back to Mirror Master not being the original by having him give Axel a lesson in earning acceptance by the Rogues as an "official" replacement for one of their own. And since Weather Wizard is one of the few characters we never got a Rogue Profile on, I'm interested in the focus it looks like he'll be getting next issue.
The biggest question mark for me is Zoom's motivation. As we all know, he actually thinks he's working for the greater good... he's insanely deluded, of course, but he honestly believes that the torture he puts heroes through will remove their flaws and make them better heroes in the long run. And in that context, his actions in Infinite Crisis -- joining the Secret Society, scarring Damage -- make sense if you assume that he was allying himself with the villains in order to make the heroes work harder to overcome them.
But -- and I haven't been reading the main Final Crisis series, so maybe I'm wrong on this -- isn't Libra's whole schtick that he wants evil to win? The whole idea is that he's going to help villains get revenge and foment lawlessness? That's pretty much the opposite of what Zoom actually wants -- he wants the heroes to win, he just wants them to struggle to get there, only killing them if they prove "unworthy" of being a hero. Here, he claims that it's not him who wants Inertia to be Kid Flash, it's Libra. So... any thoughts on Zoom's endgame here? Is he claiming to be a team player but secretly working against Libra for his own goals, or is he once again going along with the group not because he wants the villains to win (just the opposite), but because he thinks the heroes will be better the harder they struggle and the more they have to sacrifice for victory?

What I want to know is how are the Flashes the key to the Crisis and what door is Libra afriad they will open?

What I want to know is where Geoff Johns gets off making an utterly enjoyable, utterly brilliant mini like this?
Best read of the week for me, by far.

The former is a reference to the fact that Flashes always tend to do big important things during these Crises.
The latter may have something to do with Barry's connection to the multiverse and how (with Wally alongside) they could undo something substantial to help bring down Libra and Darkseid...?

She was trying to adopt him, but we never found out whether she succeeded, and he disappeared from the comic after Crossfire.
Presumably the adoption fell through.

Up until this issue, I still wanted Geoff Jhns back writing THE FLASH, whether it was Wally or Barry. I don't want that anymore.
I want Geoff to write an ongoing Rogues series. Barry and Wally can guest star every now and then.

I liked the subtle references to FC #3: Wally & Barry running through the time-stream, and Libra's monitor showing the Daily Planet in rubble, WW's transformation, etc...

i like 'em burnettes :P
still, the violence, agression, action and dementia shown in this 2 issues is SUPERB.
"you never watched her dance" or something like that, hah! a true pyromaniac indeed. dancing with flames, building up more fire, watching "her" touch everything, and spread herself until she consumes all..wicked. finding passion and poetry within a deranged mind...5 deranged minds. good job.

Ugh, did they have to reference that horrible Gotham Underground mini?
The fake villains made this issue feel superfluous. Really, the story hasn't moved much since last issue.

well having the rogues wipe them out of exsistence is awesome, and there is lots going on in the plot IMHO.
Libra's Plans, The Rogues returning, Barry's story being referenced, Wally's story in Final cisis being shown in one panel.
Notice Libra's eye colour changes, This is the third eye colour they have gave him and I don't think it's a mistake by the artist or colourist.

Definitely, the last part. What better way for the heroes to make themselves better than having evil take over the world. The heroes will be struggling hard to overcome that.

it's also a perfect way to thin out the herd of all the unworthy heroes, plus if Evil does win once and for all, then it just proved that none of the heroes were good enough

I agree. The heroes think of Bart as The Flash when he died, but to the Rogues he hadn't proved himself and will always be Kid Flash.
I'm always suckered into buying the tie-ins for major storylines, but this is the first time I wish a mini was longer. Wasn't the original mini supposed to be 5 issues? Before it was tied in to Final Crisis?
Anyway, loved this issue completely. Johns is the man when it comes to writing The Flash. I started reading Flash when he came on board as writer and I really hope he writes the new Flash series that's rumoured to star Barry.
As for the baby being adopted by Iris, I can't remember what the status was, but this is Geoff Johns. He's not going to mess up with continuity mistakes, especially ones for comics he actually wrote!

I'm really liking this Rogues Revenge stuff. I wasn't a fan of the art at first, but it's starting to grow on me. Where is the real Abra Kadabra though ?

That's a good point. They did all return from the Salvation Run planet, right?
I'm guessing the Society got to him and, unlike the other Rogues, he signed up?
I cannot wait for the next issue. What a fun read! Captain Cold has never seemed so interesting before.

Kadabra and Doc Alchemy both, according to Libra's comment at the end of this issue. I hope those two get to show up next issue. Alchemy's been more or less MIA ever since his excellent 'Keystone Kops' arc from Gotham Central two or three years ago (with the exception of his brief cameo in Rogue War).
