Anyone has news or knows whats happening with the collections of this comic ?
I would love to finish the story with trades. But i wont bother if only 30 issues of 70 has been collected when im on vol 3.
Also are there newer fans for this comic here ? Fans that discovered this awesome series years after its run.

1. DC's already reprinted over half the series - vol 6 goes through 36 of 70.
2. While DC's certainly dropped the ball a number of times (Shade, Human Target, Ennis' Hellblazer), there's no indication that this is one of them. It's not like DC would be releasing these books on a monthly schedule. For what it's worth, amazon says book 7 The Mist & the Phantom of the Fair is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2009. That should reprint through 44.
3. Anyone wondering if DC will screw up and not reprint the Annual and Sandman Midnight Theatre?

2. answered my question. I was wondering when the next trade was coming. I couldnt find the info.
DC are very lame to reprint one trade a year. Vol 5 in 2007, vol 6 in 2008.
They reprint everything else that has the name Sandman but not the original Sandman and a classic vertigo series with Matt Wagner and Guy Davis ? Are they crazy.....

It's crazy to think they wouldn't reprint the Annual at some point.
It has Alex Ross art....

Sandman Midnight Theatre has been reprinted in Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days, although my copy had a printing error where some of the party scenes from the middle of the story are printed instead of the last few pages. So, yeah, I'd like to see that reprinted, perhaps with "The Cannon".
I believe that Ennis' Hellblazer was reprinted in its entirity earlier this year, although they did reprint it in a screwy order over several years.

The stories are fairly self contained and DC/Vertigo is only going to keep publishing them if people keep buying them. SO you're doing yourself a disservice by waiting for DC to publish them all.

Since the series ended so long ago, each volume DC releases is effectively all brand new material. So from that perspective, it's kind of cool, getting an all new annual paperback.

I know how the stories are i have read the first 3 vols.
I just wanted to know if they plan to finish the trade collection of the series.
No need to get vol 4-vol- vol 6 if they didnt realese the rest of the trades and finish the series.
For me its not about collecting a series i like, its reading the stories for the first time ! Single issues of the series is impossible to find over here so the trades are my only hope of reading Wesley's story.
It was one of the first good Vertigo series i read when i started reading vertigo, i love it to bits !

Then keeping buying and reading the trades. It's not that complicated. And I don't understand this logic that "there's no need to get 4-6." If you like the book and want them to keep publishing then support the book. Also later numbered trades tend to have lower print runs and they can go out of print. (see Marvels Walt Simonson Thor trades). Waiting around for them to collect seems counter intuitive and you're just missing out on good stories. So there's 6 trades published and at least another on the way. So there's indication that the publisher is willing to support the book for now. But that can only last for so long if the numbers aren't there.

I totally agree with Libaax. If everyone waited for all the volumes to be put out before buying any then they definitely would not get printed.
I think the reason why trades get published so slowly is because they have a longer shelf life due to the more casual nature of bookstores. A year gives DC a fair amount of time to see if there's enough demand for another volume.

Of course i will buy the trades. This hole thread is about that.
But i didnt know if they had stopped the printing or not. Its not fun collecting something you know wont be printed to finish.
It doesnt help thinking atleast i got the trades thats out so far.....

I could understand that kind of thinking with a book like Preacher or Y: The Last Man where getting halfway through the series would mean reading half a story, but Sandman Mystery Theatre is very episodic so every trade is one or two self-contained stories

But who really cares about that when its about a series you like so much you want to read everything and collect every trade ?
Also people take for granted about how easy its to getting back issues in NA compared to international readers. You wont ever find single issues of old series like Sandman Mystery.
