Theres still some VERY good product out there, from marvel, dynamite,& to a much lesser degree, dc.Books that one day, will be seen as classics, like the 40+ issues of the new captain america. But I think that with time, one can get a bit jaded with comics. For some,it comes around age 20,others,age 40. More and more, I see two lines of thought from longtime fans, age 40 & up. "None of todays product,is worth the price" as well as " I can get ANY book I want, for 20-25 cents, If I just wait two or three years!" As well, with libraries having so many softcover collected reprints avalible, many just read the stories for free, after waiting a year more or less for them to be reprinted. Now you need not be a rocket scientest to realize, that if 20-25% of the fans, adopt this attitude, then the future of comics,is in BIG trouble!

Alot of those 40 & up fans are still buying trades so i dont know how much those companies are hurting. And ppl do read them for free and whats the problem with that?? Maybe they cant afford every trade or book that comes out or just want to read it before buying. And i dont know where you shop but ive never seen a current book selling for 20-25 cents maybe a dollar. Basically what your saying is the 40 & up are going to kill the industry. Theres plenty of people my age (21) and younger buying books. And really what you claim that the 40+ crowd are doing are really more something that people my age do cause we cant afford alot so 50cent bins and half off trades or 1.00 current books look alot better to our budgets than 2.99 an issue. But that being said if you were to go into my LCS on a Wednesday you see plenty of people my age with a pull list. Its the quality of comics that is going to kill the comics industry and all the crossovers that ruin characters... but im not getting into that cause i pretty much stopped caring a long time ago.

Certainly a bad portent for grammar and punctuation to come. Yowza.
