Spawn question.

I read spawn when it first came out and I liked it but it out of my interest pretty soon so I never read very far but I remembered spawn always had his countdown on his timer thing when he used a power of his it would go down, did it ever hit 0? If it did what happened?

It happens during the Armageddon storyline that David Hine brilliantly wrote.

The story itself is too complex and far too good for me to try and summarize though. All I can really say is, try and find a copy of the trade paperback: The Complete Armageddon Collection. It's well worth the money.
