Pretty awesome. Even with your base, non-upgraded abilities you feel powerful slinging around Rebel and Imperial soldiers alike.

Getting your hands on an end-game Starkiller will probably make a lot of Star Wars fans cackle, kinda like the fun I had at the end of Jedi Academy, when you're slicing folks in half, torching whole groups, or bouncing their own rockets back at them.

Edit: However, this demo does nothing to rid me of my dislike of QTE's.

QTE's?????

Quick-Time Events.

You know, the 'press this button, then this one and this one QUICKLY' scenes in the games. Shenmue, God of War, Jericho and about five billion others use them.

Especially since I didn't realize the AT-ST was a QTE, and was trying to use objects to knock it off the side of the platform.

Same, but I don't really have a problem with QTEs when they are used to end a fight, but to use them completely in a fight (unless actually challenging) is pretty lazy to me, negates the fight, and decreases the overall difficulty of the game.

Oh.

They're okay when used right. I liked it as awesome finishing moves like in GOW when you struggle to shove you're blade down a Cyclop's eye.

I thought the demo was pretty fun, and I am definitely picking this one up next month. I am preparing to go broke in October as Little Big Planet and Bioshock come out on the same day, and then Fallout 3 comes out exactly one week later.

Now here's the question, Wii or PS3/360? Because supposedly they did their damndest making the thing play right for the Wii.

If you actually have both a Wii and a PS3 or 360, I'd go with the PS3/360 version.

I've got all three, and I think I'll be skipping the Wii version.

And after trying the demos on the 360 and the PS3, I think I'll buy the PS3 version, as it simply looked better, crisper, and more colorful.

Of course, that could be because I've got my PS3 hooked up via HDMI and my 360 using the component cables it came with.

Unless I hear the the 360 will be getting some exclusive DLC, I'll probably go with the PS3 version.

I quite liked it and will definitely be buying. Presentation was top-notch and gameplay quite smooth. I hope you're able to do more with lightsabre combat than what was shown here. I never got tired of using Force Speed to slice people's arms off in Jedi Academy. Here you were mostly just twatting people in the face a few times until they fell down. Need to work on my Force Gripping, my aim when throwing things around isn't very good. One complaint was Vader's voice. He sounded like a member of the British royal family circa 1920.

Pretty humdrum, and more or less exactly what I was expecting. Entirely scripted, with nothing new to offer but more elaborate ragdoll physics.

Eh, the QTE lasted like 2 seconds, didn't bother me.

I'll be getting this though. I was the sold the moment I pulled a TIE fighter down and threw it at a stormtrooper clear across the room.

I was happy with the demo. Pretty much what I was expecting.

I'll be buying the game when it comes out.

Also, for those as geeky as myself: Borders has the novelization for 40% off this week.

Not exactly...think sort of interactive cutscenes...where button promts flash on the screen and you have to hit the button fast of you fail/die/have to start over. That's a QTE.

If QTE's are done well, they can be a lot of fun. God of War does them well where you beat down an enemy or a boss, and the QTE becomes the finishing maneuver. If the boss fights (such as the walker in the demo) are made up entirely of QTE's then it may not be as fun. Although, I suspect the walker fight as it appeared in the demo could be different in the actual game.

You only used a QTE to finish off the walker. It didn't make up the entire fight.

Once I took care of the all the stormtroopers, I ran up to the walker and when I was right in front of it, the QTE was activated. I didn't attack it other than that.

It's not weird. It's the Force.

Ok I haven't tried out the demo. (Don't have Live for some odd reason)

Judging from what everyone is saying, it kinda sounds like another Psi Ops.

Judging from what everyone is saying, it kinda sounds like another Psi Ops.

In a way, I guess. Except way, way better. Granted, part of it is just because the physics are better, but there's a real feel, even in the demo where your powers aren't fully realized, that you can do some real crazy stuff with the Force. As others have alluded to, when you're grabbing TIEs and chucking them at Stormtroopers, it's going a bit beyond Psi Ops.

The QTE won't activate until it's health bar has been drained a certain amount. When you killed the stormtroopers you probably threw crap at it unintentionally, because it won't activate otherwise.

Unless you played on Sith Apprentice mode. Don't know how it works there.

The demo was pretty poor in my opinion. It highlighted the thing I was most afraid of, which was controls. Camera is an issue, although one I'm more willing to give a pass on since even good action platformer RPGs (Devil May Crys, God of Wars, Ninja Gaidens, etc) have those issues.

However, the controls themselves feel...not polished. They don't feel as precise as the high quality games in the genre. They feel just slightly off, like if I hit a button, the on-screen action responses just ever-so-slighty slower.

The demo stage felt a bit empty, but this is still minor. It feels like there should be more enemies since there are so many things happening in the background, but the hanger part felt empty. The platforms leading to the AT-ST fight felt that way as well, but to a lesser degree.

I'm still gonna get it, but not right away. I'm expecting a low 8s to low 7s for most review sites.

I've read the novel and graphic novel. For what it's worth I can comfirm that the story is good and fits within continuity.

The demo powers are pretty jacked up compared to what you start with in the actual game. They do that for demos, to show off the cool stuff instead of the boring opening stuff.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the demo powers weren't -too- amplified. Like maybe "level 3 out of 10" as opposed to "level 1" (so to speak).

If you go to GameSpot you can watch a marathon they did of the game.
Trying out the 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the game.

For the next gen consoles they go through the first 3 levels, it shows you what the game will be like and what the powers are like when you first start out as the apprentice.

Looks way better than what the demo made it seem.

I think they're OK in certain moments of the game, when trying to give the game a more cinematic feel.

According to this, Lucas was involved in the game's plot
http://kotaku.com/5048327/noooooo-george-lucas-involved-with-force-unleashed-plot

I don't see how the creator's input is a bad thing but then again, I'm not a Star Wars fan.

I finally played the 'r360 demo the day the games comes out. The graphics are awesome and the gameplay was fun. The controls aren't as tight as say a Ninja Gaiden or God of War, but they weren't problematic either.

I've seen reviews saying the game is short, only about ten hours, which to me sounds like either a rental or a wait for the greatest hits edition.

X-Play gave it a 2! That's surprising, they've been pimping the game pretty hard.

I'll rent it and give it a shot.

Ok, I really, really enjoyed Force Unleashed (http://www.theleisurelab.co.uk/Games/Star-Wars-Force-Unleashed-Review/) on both the Wii and Xbox, and I haven't enjoyed a Star Wars spin-off since Tie Fighter back min the mid-nineties. (Well, I sort of enjoyed Shadows of the Empire on N64, but with hindsight I was clearly suffering from cabin fever at the time).

Anyways, much a sI enjoyed it, I thought I'd better give it to a hard-to-please reviewer, and was deeply surprised when Tommy Three Stars came back with this (http://www.theleisurelab.co.uk/Games/Star-Wars-Force-Unleashed-Review/).
