Make Me A Super Hero: Challenge #5

First and foremost, welcome to Make Me a Superhero! This will be a weekly challenge of sorts. In which all posters are welcomed to post a design for the challenge. There really aren’t all that many rules for this thread.

- The picture of your design should be cropped to 550x800.
- Criticisms are welcomed, but in a polite and civil way. We don’t want to put anyone down, but help to improve their work.
- On every other Wednesday I will post the challenge. If you are interested in participating in the challenge of question, post the picture (via photobucket, imageshack, etc.) and a brief description of the characters back story, powers, and how your character ties into the challenge. You have until 11:59 p.m (CST) on Sunday to post your entry.
- That following Monday, I will post a voting thread, in which everyone is free to vote for which character they liked the most.
- The winner of that challenge get’s to choose the next challenge.
- After a competitor has entered their entry, please pm me with your idea for the next challenge, before the voting period ends.
- Once again this is just a friendly design contest. So no eliminations. Furthermore, there is no commitment involved with Make Me a Superhero. So if you feel like playing one week and not the next, which is perfectly fine.

BTW Pryde15, it seems like there was a big lack of voting last round and I think it was due to the absense of an actual poll. People just like the option of making a simple click. Although it's great to get feedback, it can't really be expected. Should we maybe impliment a rule of first 10 come/submitted, first 10 served?

I'd prefer if you all chose a different character. But if you absolutely must do a character someone is already doing, then I guess you can. :smile:

Yes it is Aaliyah. I LOVE HER SO MUCH! And I abso-freakin-lutely agree on her playing the part of M. I even made a suggestion in the X-Men thread where you pick a favorite actor to play a character, that Aaliyah would be perfect as M. But I made the avatar myself! I found a picture of her, and made it all vintage and gritty looking.

this contest is sooo sweet... got colossus, cyclops, nightcrawler and thunderbird done, just need to finish up Wolverine and Storm for my doodle... really hard making Logan look evil when he just slaughters everyone anyways as a "good guy" :P

Saddened I have to crop my pic tho :( going the whole 9 with actual comic page size art (production not printed).... fun stuff....

Jubilee - Blight

Finally fed up with everyone not taking her seriously (especially power-wise), Jubilation Lee took it upon herself to make life a living hell for previous family. Taking the name Blight, Jubilee brought the X-Men to their knees.

For the costume, wanted something badass. Plus, I wanted to tie it to her most well known costume, hence the pink glasses and taking the pink and darkening it. Then I gave her a punk/badass haircut to top it all off. Oh, and Jubes finally shows off cleavage. And... ZIPPERS!

After a sudden reemergence of her long dormant valkyrie powers, Dani is overwhelmed and succumbs to the influence her death-sensing abilities has on her. Her obsession with death grows, ultimately leading Dani to kill. This leads her into multiple conflicts with her former teammates who only want to help their friend.

Good God what a costume! Making it topless is a risk, but it's done tastefully, and I can always stand beside sexiness done tastefully. I'm really liking that jacket type of sleeves she has with the little tassles hanging from them. The headdress and the bone runes are lovely as well. Great job Shin!

Having to face these rejections daily he made a quick decision to stay behind in the artic after an X-Men Mission with Wolverine. Two things happened to Bobby while staying there gathering his thoughts. His control over freezing temperature grow immensley while opening a door to complete utter madness. His return back to the mansion was not a happy reunion. He found himself being treated worse as he couldn't control his now-enormous power. In a rage he lashed out and disposed of the X-Men on campus. He formulated a plan to return to the artic and bring forth a new ice age to combat all of his team mates no matter where they were scattered on the planet. He nearly succeeded until Charles Xavier invaded his mind and convinced him that he was in a snowglobe constructed by a 5 year old and that his cartoony appearance must always remain on the uptmost Northern part of the globe.

I hope it's ok that I'm jumping right into this thread... I've been lurking the past couple of days and when I saw these challenges I just had to join and give it a try.

I believe it was said that Storm was relinquished, so I'd love to claim her! I didn't see any rules about coloring, so I'll probably just go for pencils (given the amount of time left), but let me know if I'm mistaken.

lol Sparta! Those dogs are hilarious! And Bobby looks like a cross between the Joker, a pimp, and Frosty the snowman! It's brilliant! :biggrin:

thank you for the compliments! i was going back in forth with the whole topless thing, but i decided to go with it as a greater contrast to what i picture the old Hel to be (kinda like an old grandma) and what Dani represents as the new Hel. i'm happy with it

I went with an evil cyclops. Tried to make his mask completely made of ruby quartz. Why is he evil? Because it wouldn't make any sense to join the contest if he wasn't. :smile:

I guess we can go with the whole joining the dark side thing after seeing a bunch of mutants die or something to that affect.

By the way, this was first time I tried digitally coloring. Not as easy as it looks.

Finally O.o I'm so mad at my camera right now (and the fact that I forgot I don't have my scanner with me!) This version is horrible, but it's the best I could get.

I imagine that Storm was never recruited into the X-Men and stayed in the Serengeti as the people's goddess. Eventually her great power and worshipers begin to make her enjoy her life as goddess and gradually start taking over more and more places under her rule and expanding her reign. Now so power-hungry, she seeks to prove her divinity by eliminating other powerful mutants and bending the human population to her will.

If I'm too late (or too bad quality) to be included in the voting, I completely understand. Thanks for the opportunity to try it out :)
