If you think about it this would prevent their Super-skrulls getting slaughtered wholesale. Do you think it was left out for story reasons because it would make them too tough? Has an in-story reason been given?

That is a good question, maybe because Marvel doesn't want the Skrulls to be all that powerful. :frown:

The Skrulls are fighting with religious fervor, not canny tactics. Reducing casualties doesn't seem to be a priority on any level.

On a meta level . . . giving them all Wolverine headgear and claws would kind of suck. A diverse set of team-themed super Skrulls is more fun.

Perhaps the skrulls made the mistake of focusing more on offensive rather than defensive abilities.

There seems to be a lack of that in general. Most don't have a high degree of invulnerability or healing factors. The skrulls might have just been single minded in the powers they chose to adapt.

The soldiers don't seem to mind dying and those that have so far haven't really affected the war. It could also be a cost thing, and their best bet is in numbers.
