Ok because you demanded it ! a thread for everyones favorite canuckian furball with claws !!
I read Wolverine and the amazing immortal man one shot by David Lapham and i felt like it would have made a better vertigo book for some reason.
I'm not even sure why he needs so many one-shots in the first place cause i don't think they do justice to his character.
Also : anyone wanna fill me in on what hes doing in the new avengers books currently?
anything else Wolvie related is free to discuss at whim

I'd like to thank the man(character) known as Wolverine for many things.
1. Thank you Wolverine, Logan if I may, for popping up in storylines where your presence makes absolutely no sense.
2. Wolvie, ole buddy ole pal, thanks for being there in a Fatherly/Creepy Old Uncle/Peeping Tom way to each and every young budding teenage girl.
3. I send my dearest appreciation for your ability to completely overshadow other characters who's background and/or plotline need more exploration than your own in order to sell of few more copies of a certain book.
4. Finally, and this is the one closest to my heart, I would like to send my deepest regards for you being hairy in places I'm not sure anyone should be and smelling a bit like an old wet dog.
Because Wolverine, Logan, there's no one as truly badass as thee. Here's a beer to you!

Something tells me that a Wolverine appreciation thread won't last long before the haters descend upon it in force, but I've got to admire you for trying, Pariah.
Wolverine is definitely the man. Here are some random pics that I Googled for Timbox.

The early 80s mini with Claremont on the script and Miller on the art was probably my favorite piece of work for years and years. To this day, it's held up well.
Now? Just wildly overexposed. There's no sane or logical reason he should be in (New) Avengers, and it's a dumb move. I always appreciated the fact that the x-folk were on the "periphery" of the MU and never part of their core squad or teams.

I haven't really enjoyed Wolvie since Hama. I've enjoyed arcs here and there, but him being just wildly over-exposed, and writers writing him completely uberly powerful has detracted away from the character. Also, all the trouble writers put into making him less an animal, and more a man trying to deal with his animal urges have been thrown out the window simply in order to make him more 'bad-ass'.

Enemy of the state was really good too.
The time when Kitty was frustrated and took a drag of Wolvies cigar and was like "told ya so"
The Wolverine and Kitty mini series where he helped her fight off Ogun.
The time when Lady Viper (i think thats her name?) was possessed by Ogun and he stabbed her in the stomach and left her bleeding.
I'm sure i'll think of more later.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat as most of you. Wolverine's the man, and after years of reading comic books, I just now started reading the Wolverine series. The reason I put it off so long and never really got into him, was cause theres just SO MANY wolverine comics. And allot of them strait out suck. I just never knew where to start and simply didn't have the time.
But when done right, he's just one of the best. Deep, complex, he's honorable and good but just barely. He walks that fine line.
But man, just too many series. And I do find he works best in team situations, despite the fact he ain't a team player.

sorry to bring this is up, but its similar. Wolverine is frickin awesome. i heard and found out there was an old what if kinna shot from the 90s where Wolverine battled Gladiator for 6 days to see if they'd let the people of earth live on his planet. Wolverine ended up dying, but he saved the human race. now that is an epic way to go.
Does anyone have any pics from that or know the particular issue? Hmm Maybe this was better off as a new topic

Christopher Yost on X-Men: Origins Wolverine (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/020902-Yost-Wolverine.html)
In so much as they cover some of the same ground, yes. But where the movie has WW2 and wrestling matches, I have Heather Hudson. You just can't do that in a movie.
Heather Hudson is better than both war and wrestling!
I think the man he became after he forgot who he was defined him. His natural inclination, all things being equal, was to be a man of honor. A hero. Someone who fights against the beast within. That's pretty telling.TEX!!!
Well said, Yosty. Well said.
Yes. You'll get to see exactly what happened once Wolverine and Professor X left that office after Wolverine quit Department H. It isn't pretty.
I’m all for leaving GIANT-SIZED X-MEN #1 the hell alone, but this might just be fun.

Ironically despite loving Yost/Kyles take on Wolverine, not really excited by Yost's Wolverine Origins, but I'll check it out. Actually really really didn't like the Emperor Vulcan stuff, which I think is the only thing I've read by him on his own, so from that point of view will be interesting to see how he fairs on this.
I haven't really enjoyed Wolvie since Hama. I've enjoyed arcs here and there, but him being just wildly over-exposed, and writers writing him completely uberly powerful has detracted away from the character. Agree, though Hama is hit and miss reading back now, he built a decent character thread and played off a lot of fun genres. Exceptions post-Hama being pretty much anything done by Whedon, Yost/Kyle & Millar. Kinda lucky at the moment to be getting two interesting versions of Wolverine in X-Force & Old Man Logan.
Still waiting for Bendis to do something decent with him. Aaron showed promise in places too.
I really really wish though that A. Nother character would bitch slap him at least once for relying so much on his healing factor and getting his arse kicked so frequently instead of using his head - vote for Pixie. Even better, the editors realise that using the same character for cannon fodder again and again just because you can, isn't really that great.
i agree Hama was very good on the book, but i cant wait for Jason Aaron'a run on Wolverine:Weapon X

That Ogun is Wolverines Sensei noone has ever mentioned anyone named "Master Po" and a lot of Clint Eastwoods movies have inspired Wolverine's character and he is admitted fan of his too.
Yeah as much as I like Jason Aaron's writing, when it comes to Wolverine, he's pretty much completely ignored Wolverine's past continuity. He's doing this Wolverine Kung Fu story, but seriously downplays Wolverine's skills and make no mention of Ogun or any of the other masters he's ever trained with. Then, he has a kid say to Logan "I bet you've never fought Shang-Chi or Iron Fist before, because you're still standing here"...when Wolverine had defeated Shang-Chi before, and fought an Iron Fist before back when Danny got his powers stolen and was defeated by this punk who took over the Hand. Logan fared better against the guy than Danny did...Danny even admitted it. It just doesn't seem like he does the research. We'll see how he handles the last chapter of Manifest Destiny though.

That kid probably overrates San Chi and Iron Fist as much as some people in the internet.
As for Ogun, it's not obligatory to allways mention him.

It's not mentioned in Manifest Destiny but he has mentioned being a fan of Clint Eastwood before.
