Can I read the relaunches of Thor, Captain America, plus jump in on Spidey and stuff without having to catch up the Civil War?

I really hope the answer is yes, as I just started it and am finding it a little silly.

You might be able to skirt by with Thor. Just a general idea of how Thor was involved with CIVIL WAR would help.

As for Captain America, issues #22-25 are CIVIL WAR tie-ins. They are affected directly by the events of the book.

If you really need to read Spider-Man, start with Brand New Day and move forward.

Yes, you certainly can although you'll be missing some context here and there.

But then you won't know why people hate Iron Man!

Skipping Civil War is not going to cause much confusion. Most of the events except those relating to Captain America are pretty forgettable or got the Brand New Day makeover.

Pretty much. Other than explaining why some characters are on bad terms with each other, there really isn't much you need to know about Civil War w/ those particular titles.

As people here have mentioned.

Thor -begin with the relaunch at issue #1

Spider-man - begin with Brand new day.

Captain America - begin with #25.

I don't think civil war is really crucial towards getting the majority of what has been going on in those books recently. Cap is affected the most, but you can get the general idea without having to read CW.

As long as you wiki the reprecussions you can skip what I would consider a good idea that was sloppily written.

Just ignore the Spider-Man parts.

Apparently they didn't happen.

You could get the "Battle Damage Report", which gives the run-downs on most of the characters involved. For reference.

You can certainly appreciate those books while saving yourself a possible headache. Thanks to these boards just ask a question if you can't appreciate a panel without knowing what an off comment is about.

We should all ignore Civil War, as far as I'm concerned.

In regards to understanding stuff...........

1) they made a Thor clone in Civil War.
2) Captain America didn't like the superhuman registration thing.
3) Iron Man was, is and always shall be a prick.

I think that should get you through.

Simple and straight forward.

I like it.

You can always just Google or Wiki the event to catch yourself up.

With a few bullet points to give the other books some context, you should be more than fine.

Marvel never really fully embraced the concept of Civil War and the SHRA to be honest (and frankly I think that's a good thing).

Never feel like there's a book you're obligated to get, that's torture.
