I doubt "New Darkseid" will be as big a jobber as the more recent depictions. At least, I hope not. It would basically make the entire storyline moot:

"Darkseid is this insidiously evil force. We can only defeat him by punching him. A lot."

That being said, Mandrakk makes me think of Mandark, which I'm pretty sure is not what Grant was going for ;)

Dark Monitor? In other words an Anti-Monitor rip off.

Dark Monitor? In other words an Anti-Monitor rip off.

Of course, because Grant Morrison is known for being uniminative and simply taking existing ideas!

Odds are good it will be something completely bizarre and unforeseen. Some will like it, others will despise it, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle... but you can bet your ass it won't just be a rip-off.

Superman vs Darkseid?

Poor, poor Superman. Even if he has got his little Multiversal jaunt to power him up.

Also? The NEW GODS ARE BACK! Hell yeah!

I think it will end up being somewhere in the middle of Anti-Monitor and Solomon.

Truthfully I am just waiting for the main book to be over, the others are great though.

The solicits may turn out to be true, but they're just as likely to be completely off. I don't know if it's Morrison specific or something that's common throughout DC, but it seems like most of the solicits for Morrison's books are really off. A good example would be his latest Batman issue.

This is complete and wild speculation, but I feel like Morrison probably didn't plan this book out as well as he should have. I remember reading an interview where it was said that Morrison provided the Countdown guys with a script to FC #1 prior to the first issue of Countdown. And, recently someone on this board wrote that Morrison finished writing FC #3 around the time of DotNG #6. That's the better part of a year between writing FC #1 and FC #3, and it explains why Countdown and DotNG had no idea where FC would go. I would not be surprised if Morrison is now pushing deadlines to get FC out on time, and still working out the details of the end.

No, he wrote the entire story, outlines and main beats, before the first issue of Countdown. The individual scripts are tailored later, to accommodate for any other tweaks or changes due to the shared-universe concept of the DCU.
