Blade of the Immortal anime

okay, so I watched some blurry stuff on youtube at the advice of a friend.

I feel like a nasty kill-joy here... but I just didn't like it all that much.

my first complaint, I guess, is that they're introducing a crap-load of characters in the first episode!

Hyakurin, Habaki Kagimura, Anotsu, and I guess that just felt a bit off to me. those characters were introduced in the manga in a way that made sense--it served a dramatic purpose. here it feels like throwing too many things in at once.

anybody else seen this and have an opinion on it?

watching it again--it looks like they're trying to compress the material as much as possible.

I agree then, it is horrible.

part of what makes the manga enjoyable is that the author slows things down for dramatic purposes--and for character building moments. in the anime the editing is so bad that some scenes literally do not make any sense at all. Rin shouldn't have shown up at all in the first episode--all her introduction did was break up what little dramatic momentum had been developed and make the show difficult to follow.

hell, I own the first dozen or so volumes of this manga and I was scratching my head in a few spots.

I'm not even going to bother watching the rest of the anime--those first two episodes were so astonishingly awful it's better to read the manga.

which is too bad--because the manga deserves much better than this.

Hmmm... I didn't even know there was an anime. I guess it's because I've fallen off the BoTi wagon. It was one of my fav mangs until it got into the double digits. So many characters introduced....characters dissapearing for volumes at a time. It's a shame too. The series was awesome when it focused on the main characters.

I watched the part one of ep one. It seemed.....wrong some how.

I watched the first episode. And even though I am a huge fan of the manga, I don't think I will be watching any more. It just seemed....wrong somehow. And that "lagged camera" effect or whatever it was got annoying after the first 10 times.
