What about a heavy-set women with a high-pitched voice and an apron? What would you think if the spy were Julia Child? ABC News has picked up a story from the Associated Press, written by Brett J. Blackledge and Randy Herschaft, entitled "Newly Released Files Show Julia Childs Was a Spy."
In what could be a concern to many citizens with respect to government secrecy, the National Archives released over 750,000 documents and 35,000 top-secret files on people who were part of the World War II era Office of Strategic Services (OSS). These files had been warehoused by the CIA for decades.
In Child's file she admits to one negative trait. She admits to "impulsiveness" having left a department store job because she did not get along with her boss.
The report continues by naming other notables that were involved in the OSS spy network. Just a few were film actor Sterling Hayden, Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg, historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr., Kermit Roosevelt, son of President Theodore Roosevelt and John Hemmingway father of Ernest Hemmingway.
The final World War II secret to be released, the file compilation also tells why each person was hired and how they were to be used.

This was based on Senator Joseph McCarthy's witch hunt in the early 1950s for Communists. A man who had lied about his military record and ultimately died of what has been accepted as alcoholism accused about everyone of being "Reds"
Whom did he charge with being a Communist? Presidents Roosevelt and Truman, Democrats, rock and roll musicians, Nancy Reagan, Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement, librarians, the Girl Scouts and teenagers and juvenile delinquents were just a few people or organizations that fed McCarthy's paranoia.
