First and foremost, welcome to Make Me a Superhero! This will be a weekly challenge of sorts. In which all posters are welcomed to post a design for the challenge. There really aren’t all that many rules for this thread.

- The picture of your design should be cropped to 550x800.
- Criticisms are welcomed, but in a polite and civil way. We don’t want to put anyone down, but help to improve their work.
- On every other Wednesday I will post the challenge. If you are interested in participating in the challenge of question, post the picture (via photobucket, imageshack, etc.) and a brief description of the characters back story, powers, and how your character ties into the challenge. You have until 11:59 p.m (CST) on Sunday to post your entry.
- That following Monday, I will post a voting thread, in which everyone is free to vote for which character they liked the most.
- The winner of that challenge get’s to choose the next challenge.
- Once again this is just a friendly design contest. So no eliminations. Furthermore, there is no commitment involved with Make Me a Superhero. So if you feel like playing one week and not the next, which is perfectly fine.

Codename: Lullaby
Powers: Sonic Scream, Sonokinesis, "Chest-mounted machine gun turrets" aka "Booby Guns"

Lullaby has the ability to manipulate sound waves, which helped her with her musical career. She can also use her voice in a variety of offensive and defensive ways to evade her fans, and if that doesn't work, she can attack with a hail of bullets from her boobs.

P.S. My friends and family wanted the Mammaries of Mass Destruction, so I had to add them.

in a bid to make ms. dolly relevant to today's youth, her agent got her doing cosplay in a nearby comic con.

with a tremendously top-altered power girl costume, the adventurous ms. dolly and her PA set out to entertain, much to the surprise and delight of the conventioneers. but amidst the cheers and applause, is a deranged teenage mad scientist with a twisted mad on for hayden panettiere , who was to be a panelist for that day. his ultimate goal was to turn her into a real powered "hero" using his DNA altering serum.


as the heroes panel was about to begin, the mad teenage scientist (posing as part of the organizer's team) replaced hayden's bottled water, with his secret serum. the panelists, after seeing ms. dolly in the crowd, asked her to sing a song, hayden then offered her "bottled water" to ms. dolly to quench her thirst - much to the horror of the deranged teenage mad scientist.

minutes after the performance, ms. dolly started feeling weird and started exhibiting amazing super human strength and flight. people inside were struck with awe as this spectacle unfolded and media started broadcasting...started throwing questions...


days after the convention, ms. dolly was seen all around the country- saving lives, fighting crime, putting out forest fires in california etc...


and DC's lawyers started calling her lawyers...

just playing it in my mind is plain fun. i had a great time with this. lousy rendering but hey... turning ms. dolly into a superhero was super fun.

She was goig for a stroll in the rain, until she got lost....................... In texas!
She stumbled across an old cave, and our Dolly, being the exploring kind, found something amazing!

She found the long lost spirit of American Values!
This ancient and powerful force bestowed upon her the Power of RIGHTEOUSNESS.
She channels the powers of all things Red, White and Bluegrass!

And now, she travels the world, correcting all things immoral!

Powers: Dolly can produce an orb of Pure Moral Hard Light,
available in any colour of the FABULOUS rainbow!
She can use these orbs as Fancy flying things,
Or can pummel whack it into heathens across the country!

Ragtime bands and western swing
And sneakin' around with you
She likes lots of cash on hand
And dirty jokes about the Fuller Brush Man
You know she likes a thrill

She likes drive-in picture shows
Kissin' long and lovin' slow

Powers: Pyrokinetic abilities. Can fire flames of extreme heat. Fire manipulation. Heat Blast. She can also become a living being made of fire.

Powers: the Power stars located on the front of her body have multiple uses.
They can inflate rendering Dolly weightless and able to float through the clouds
They can be super dense allowing Dolly to powerhouse her way through obstacles with a quick swings
They can become "spongelike" absorbing both energy and physical attacks
And if need be, they can smother up to 13 attackers at once.

With her power stars, Dolly rids the world of anything that is slightly unAmerican, and forces literacy on all of those she meets.

I went with Josef's again this round. It looked like a good combination, and felt like something she would wear as a superhero.

I went with mine because putting Dolly's face onto Powergirl isn't really creating a superhero (but I like the artwork), and I'm just jealous of Josef F's drawing. I don't think Bouffant quite caught "Dolly", though I love the classy, elegant look, especially for a pyrokinetic superhero, and "Dolly and her Power Stars" is a little over the top in my opinion.

P.S.
Backwoods Barbie is a double agent. She claims to be all-American, but she's a French spy. If you don't believe me, look at the eyeshadow. Bars of blue, white, and red is the design of the French flag.

herogirl- It's a nice picture. But it doesn't say super hero or modern, to me.

Aljira- Dolly is Power Girl. You made a great connection between the two. I went with this one in the end. Because Power Girl is in the forefront of DC comics in the modern era and it is definetly Dolly.

Josef F.- This was my second favorite of all the designs. But it isn't modern, it would be perfect for the Golden Age, though. Thepicture itself, is spectuacular.

lockerogue- I don't really see Dolly in this picture.

Kid Icarus- LOL. The boobs are hilarious, over the top? Yes. But that's what you get with Dolly. It reminds me of Cassie Sandmarks. Though.

I went with Aljira.

Good concepts, all! In the end, I voted for Josef F.--because of the brilliant design, rendition, and I think his idea was most true to the spirit of Dolly Parton. I could easily see Dolly write a song called "Backwoods Barbie".

Herogirl, I loved your Lullaby! You were definitely the close second for me. I think if Dolly ever became a superhero, she would probably use that codename, or something close.

lockerogue--Cool codename and take on a pyrokinetic. But, like the others, I didn't quite see Dolly in it. The codename, yeah, but not necessarily the concept. Worthy effort, though!

Aljira, I loved your rendition of Power Girl. Like I said last week, I wish the real deal only smiled as much as Dolly! That said, though, I gave higher priority to the others for more originality.

Kid Icarus--Funny design and concept, cool art, and it certainly plays to Dolly's self-effacing nature. I just thought the gimmick was TOO easy a joke.

Still, I loved the challenge, and everyone's work! Good jobs, all! Speaking for myself, the vote wasn't easy to come by!

thanks, but i created a superhero.

the task never said to create an original modern superhero...the task just said recreate ms. parton as a modern superhero. i gave a sorta believable scenario...so she can be a superhero...i gave her legal problems to boot.

but the impt thing here is i had fun doing it. i like looking at it. it makes me smile.
