Love this thing. It's like Veronica Mars, if she were raised by her alchy mom instead of her dad, and grew up to become a Federal Marshal.

Anyone?

Love it. Just love it.

Great series. I love the dialogue. An example from one of the more recent episodes:

Mary: I love you like an eight dollar whore.
Marshall: I'm going to take that as a compliment.

I have a crush on the lead actress but I really wish they would kill off those annoying family members. Everytime they show up on screen the quality takes a noticable drop. As for those that like accuracy...boy this show just makes it up as it goes along. If the real witness protection service worked like on this show there would be no way in hell anyone would use it.

My mom is a huge fan of the show. I like it too but i like criminal intent moreso.

I made the effort to watch the first episode, but turned it off before I got to the end. I was alright, just so predictable that I could not sit through it. However, I admit that the first episode of any series may not be a good measure of the series as it evolves. I'll make the effort to watch a more recent episode sometime before the end of the summer.

Sincerely,

Shaun

Yeah, the first episode wasn't a winner. Obvious mystery, and Mary's played a bit to cliche.

By the third episode or so, it really picks up.

Oh and future prediction:

Mary's dad isn't actually dead s he's in the program

I'd had that guess before the recent revelation, but I want to get it out there.

The witnesses and their lives are not really the important part of the show Shaun... the main thing is how the lead character, Mary, tries to keep her own life from spinning out of control or keep her family from driving her stark raving mad.

There is also a lot of fun banter between Mary and her partner Marshall... and you've just GOT to love a series that has the silliness to name a U.S. Marshal character Marshall Mann. Every time he gets introduced it's "This is Marshal Marshall Mann." Cracks me up every time...

Oh and future prediction:

I'd had that guess before the recent revelation, but I want to get it out there.

You know, I hadn't thought of that BUT I figured that, considering recent developments Mary's sister, Brandi is going to end up having to testify to stay out of prison and then she's going to have to enter the program and Mary will not be allowed to know anything about it even though she works within the program.

Yeah, that's totally obvious.

Yes. and batman is bruce wayne and he'll never kill the joker.

It's how they do it, not what they're doing.

Oh yeah. Another one with an obvious ending, but a great way of getting to it!

Dear Typo Lad,

Hi! Perhaps I should clarify: when I saw the first episode, I found the story very predictable. But I also found the main character - as you pointed out - a cliche - just another typical tough girl/maverick character with a quirky family.

I'm willing to accept that the show has evolved and the characters have become more interesting. I'll give it another shot.

Take care,

Shaun

I was talking with a friend of mine about this show last night and she commented on how she HATED Mary's family at first but now she's starting to like them -- even Brandi.

It's really a lot of fun because, in the beginning, Mary had certain parts of her life totally where she wanted them -- where she was in control of them -- she'd just bought a new house, she had a semi-boyfriend with no string attached... and then her family moved in with her and everything started spinning out of her control.

Now she's got a boyfriend who wants to be more but SHE'S the one with committment issue -- probably left over from her unresolved daddy issues.

She's got a mother who's more like a younger sister and a younger sister who's more like a kid. The weird thing is that the more Mary's life spins out of control the more her family actually seems to start learning from her and trying to TAKE control of their own lives.

And I suppose I'm the only one here who wishes Brandi would straighten up a bit and hook up with Marshall. He's a sweetie and I think he'd be good for her. Not to mention how much it would drive Mary up a tree to have her partner dating her sister.

Brandi and Marshall? Really?

Not seeing that at all.

Not seeing that at all.

Well, there was that one episode where Brandi was sunbathing and Marshall was oogling her. Plus, he then tried to race the pool boy to put suntan lotion on her.

I'm not saying it would or should happen overnight but I think it would be good to see Brandi maybe turning to Marshall for advice instead of Rafe.
