Jay Faerber just announced that his Image book Noble Causes is coming to an end soon: http://www.comicsbulletin.com/features/121845949699716.htm

*sigh*

Sorry to hear this, though I guess the title has had a pretty good run for this day & age.

(I'm still waiting for Dynamo 5 to click with me like Noble Causes did a couple of years ago. I repeat: *sigh*)

Wow, I just started reading, too.

That was not the kind of news I like to hear. I have really enjoyed the ongoing series.

Wonder what he'll do next. More Venture would be nice.

That's disappointing to hear. I'm still waiting for the last TPB to be released so I can catch up and start reading the 5 year jump issues I've been saving since the re-launch.

Hopefully Urban Myths will win Pilot season and it can take NC's place on my pull list.

Well this just flat out sucks.

I'm always looking for ways to pare down my pull list, but did it have to be the ending of one of my favorite titles?

Heckfire and Damnation....

Is this a sales thing or a story thing? Jay kind of leans both ways. If it's sales, it sucks. If he's chosing to end the series, I'm actually okay with this.

I'm one of those who jumped on board after the time skip. I've been enjoying it. Although I'm sorry to see it go, I look forward to this planned end he has in the works and the next project he's got lined up.

This is a shame, I've been on board with Noble Causes since First Impressions. Definitely will be voting for Urban Myths, so I can continue to get a double dose of Faerber every month.

Completely shocked - I jumped on board with the 5 year skip ahead and have loved every second of this book.

WOW

I'm very disappointed about this.

Both my wife and I have been reading since the beginning. It's always sad to see a series that has lasted this long go bye-bye. I'll still pick up whatever Faerber does next. He's one of the best.

All good things come to an end, but this old adage doesn't make it any easier for me. I just got the first Archives and had earlier picked up the first TPB, and it looks like I'm not the only guy who just started reading.

Am I right in thinking that at Image, only the creators write the series?

Not necessarily. The creators own the property so if they choose to hire someone else to write their books, then that's their choice.

But they generally don't have an editor hovering over their shoulder telling them what they can or cannot do.

That's what I thought. Thanks guys!

It's good that Faerber can end it when he wants to, but I hope this doesn't herald a trend. Here's hoping it's a while until a similar announcement comes down the line.

He has another great book, Dynamo 5, going right now so I think his focus is just shifting.
