We're not even halfway though yet...
I thought it was Anthro to Kamandi.

I thought it was Anthro to Kamandi.
Yes. We'd start with the first boy on Earth which was Anthro and the last which was Kamandi. Nothing was said, that I recall about characters from A to Z. Rather, the first and last man on Earth.

there's a character named abra kadabra?

Abra Kadabra is a Flash villian from the 64th century. Originally his sorcery powers were due to his advanced 64th century technology but he now has actual mystical powers due to a deal with the demon Neron.

I think you were reading old ad solicits for Who's Who in the DC Universe from 1987.

The opening post is not quite accurate, but it isn't wrong. All characters from Abra Kadabra to Zsasz alphabetically isn't all that different than all the characters from Anthro to Kamandi chronologically. The first would be a subset of the latter. And, I really think Morrison did make that promise.
There's have been tons of stuff preceding FC (interviews, like 70 comics, promotional materials) and none of it has accurately portrayed FC in my opinion. Sure this stuff happens occasionally, but with FC it has been worth commenting on.

I've read almost all of the interviews and I never once saw anything about A to Z from Morrison or Didio. Only Anthro and Kamandi were ever mentioned.

I think he got Final Crisis confused with Legion of the three worlds.
were Perez said that evey legion member will make an appearance

Well it sure would be nice to see this quote by which everyone's claiming he's a liar.I recall the "Anthro to Kamandi" line, but don't recall ever seeing anything about "all characters."

Sweet lord, I don't know how to make this any clearer.
Morrison promised Anthro to Komandi. Nobody disputes that.
The first poster said Abra Kadabra to Zsasz. It was most probably a misquote.
Despite the inaccuracy of the first post, I think we should be intelligent enough to discern his intent. He probably meant to say Anthro to Komandi. Let's talk about that.
And for anybody still fixating on Abra Kadabra to Zsasz (alphabetically): Name me 1 character that belongs to that subset that doesn't belong to the Anthro to Komandi (chronologically) group.
Once again, does anyone have the actual quote?
And once again, saying that the series starts with Anthro and ends with Kamandi doesn't mean every single other character is going to appear as well.

We should also be intelligent enough to realize that Morrison simply meant many characters will appear.

if you list all the characters who have appreared already, his boast to throw in basically everyone is pretty well founded. taking him literally is probably a mistake. at the end of fc a massive list of everyone who appeared is going to look so massive, and i wonder how it will compare with infinite crisis

I agree that this thread really should have started out with an exact quote of whatever "promise" Grant Morrison supposedly might end up "breaking."
I did remember something about Morrison saying it stretched from Anthro (sometimes called "the first boy," I gather?) to Kamandi (whose subtitle in the 70s series was "The Last Boy on Earth"). I thought I might've seen it in an interview or article on Newsarama, so I dug around a bit.
Here's an excerpt from an interview (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=146753) Morrison did in February 2008:
NRAMA: Are you able to talk about any more obscure characters you’re bringing back for Final Crisis at this time?
GM: Ah – in terms of obscurity, there’s so many. There’s some new Japanese superheroes we hinted about in 52. We’re bringing back Sonny Sumo, from Jack Kirby’s Forever People, and a couple of things like that. Quite a lot of the Kirby characters will be around, ones you’ve seen recently like OMAC – there’s been that robot version around recently, and now you’re going to see the next level of that program.
Everyone’s in this bloody thing ultimately! We’ve even got Streaky the Super-Cat in the second issue! (laughs) We’re trying to cover all the bases, but also to make you see these characters in a completely new way, like you’re just seeing the DC Universe for the first time.
NRAMA: So how obscure are you willing to go? Any chance we could see the Dingbats of Danger Street or any of those other crazy First Issue Special characters?
GM: Yeah, we have the potential to see everyone! I mean, the first issue opens with Anthro the Caveboy, and Kamandi’s in there, so there’s a whole bunch of stuff crossing the entire range and span of the DCU. And yeah, there’s the off chance I’ll put the Dingbats in if you want them! (laughs)
Okay, so he said such things as "the potential to see everyone" -- as opposed to specifically saying "everyone you ever heard of is guaranteed to get at least one cameo apiece" -- and a moment earlier he'd said, "quite a lot of the Kirby characters will be around," which naturally carried the implication that some of DC's Kirby characters wouldn't make the cut! I don't think he's promising to include appearances by every single supporting character who ever got to exchange a few lines of dialogue with Kamandi in that 1970s title, for instance!
I admit he also said "Everyone's in this bloody thing ultimately!", which may well explain how this thread got started, but in context I think it's clear from his other comments in that same passage of the interview that he only meant, "Everyone in the DCU is theoretically affected by it, and we're going to dust off a lot of obscure ones for onstage appearances, including people such as Anthro and Kamandi who aren't even part of the 'present era' in the DCU, in order to highlight the idea that 'Final Crisis' touches the lives of all of the characters of the 'past' and 'future' of the DCU, in one way or another."

I remember reading the "Abra Kadabra to Mr. Zasz" somewhere, but it may have been about the Rouges tie-in mini.
But, that's not the point.
The point is that this a thread started by hitokiri!
Has everyone but me forgotten that almost all of his non-"Rumbles" threads are tounge-in-cheek?
Geez... the Grant Morrison worship goes a weeeee bit too far when any negative comment (joke OR real) is reacted to as a personal insult.

They were all in the first issue, located in the Orrery at the Monitor Planet. Didn't you see them all?
Has everyone but me forgotten that almost all of his non-"Rumbles" threads are tounge-in-cheek?
Why on earth would anyone be expected to know that?

I'm pretty sure I never knew that in the first place . . . so I didn't forget it, either.

I didn't get the feeling that the other people in this thread were fanatical Morrison worshippers who felt personally insulted by hitokiri's assertions in the original post. Many of them just disagreed with those assertions regarding what sort of "promise" Morrison had allegedly made in the first place. (When no one else bothered to go searching the Web to actually find any relevant source material on that point, I took it upon myself to do so.)
