All right, so today I read up to the point where Batman saves Alfred from the Gotham River mines. I know so far there has been a lot of the GCPD and I'm wondering if reading Gotham Central will enhance the experience of No Man's Land or vice versa, or not at all. Anyone have any recommendation on how to handle the order of these stories?

Gotham Central is its own story. It doesn't take anything from No Man's Land. It barely even uses Batman. There really is no relation, except that it happens after NML. Ready it in whatever order you want

Several GCPD characters in NML are used later in Gotham Central, most notably Rene Montoya. Finish NML first, then read Gotham Central. It's an incredible series.

If you're currently reading No Man's Land, then I'd recommend you next read the trade paperbacks: New Gotham: Evolution and New Gotham: Officer Down. Both trades feature the GCPD prominently and Officer Down in particular sets up the status quo for the Gotham Central series.

Evolution introduces a couple of characters who later return in 52. One is a snakish woman called Whisper A'Daire, another is her bodyguard, a wolfman named Kyle Abbot. There was another character, who I think returned in War Games, but I forget his name.
