I am going to start this by saying I like Trinity, and have settled in with Final Crisis and enjoyed issue 3 more than the previous 2. With that said, I have a critisism about timelines/continuity which is occuring between these 2 titles. (P.S. it is ok to say a Wizard did it)

Trinity being a weekly book is in many ways supposed to be the backbone, most current storyline in DC universe. Events here are now virtually real time or at least 1 issue equals one day kinda timeframe (I know this is a guess).

FC on the other hand is the big universe changing event, that is supposed to have big picture scope. As I read an issue this seems like it should be the moist current events, because anything that world changing would have to be recognized in every book. Therefor FC in theory is the most up to date.

So this is creating a big conflict for me. Which book competing to be the backbone of the present DC universe really is? When I read thing today many many time and loctions inconsistancies bothered me. I will list a few of them.

Batman RIP complicates things more.

1. Loise is almost dead in FC, and reporting at Star labs in Trinity.
2. Superman has not been seen in at least 1 days in FC, but is all over Trinity
3. Batman is captured in FC and again in Trinity
4. The Heroes get conscripted in FC and are in the Space station in Trinity
5. The Hero world ends!!!! But in Trinity there is a second set of otehr world baddies battling Heroes in the current unchanged universe.
6. Daily Planet is smoldering in FC, and up and working in Trinity.

I could go on but these things hit me off just 2 issues I picked up today.

Normally, I except in comics that your main characters must have been cloned to bee everywhere the writers want them to be, I can live with that. But here we have two books doing major things completely ignoring one another. For now Trinity seems to fit better with the other ongoing books, but FC is supposed to be the big event. Maybe I am being to critical, but the inconsistancies really hit me today.

Trinity takes place before Final Crisis. It's not supposed to be the backbone of the DCU, it's just a really long story.

a. Trinity is a stand alone book.
b. An issue is probably more like an hour or so (sometimes longer): there's no way the Konvict fight took more than a day even though it lasted multiple issues, for example.

Do you have a definite source for this? Given that its run will end well after FC, might it not take place later?

Didio stated at one of the conventions (NYCC???) that Trinity took place before FC

Personally I think you should pick one and forget the other.

I chose Trinity.

Even though FC is universe-altering, it's also a relatively stand-alone title. It won't be reflected in the other DC titles for quite some time, if at all ....

When I first saw this thread, I figured that Orion had died again in this week's issue.
