Normally I wouldn't bother with celebrity news, but this is Morgan Freeman we are talking about. Looks like the Dark Knight is cursed.

Link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7541667.stm).

I am rather disturbed that someone would take a picture of the poor guy when he has just had a serious accident.

Initial reports are saying his shoulder and arm are pretty roughed up, and that he fell asleep at the wheel - no drugs or drinking was involved.

"Both the actor and a female passenger had been wearing seatbelts."

Listen up kids - Morgan Freeman knows how to use 'em, so can you.

Hope he pulls through this in one piece.

Oh geez. Someone said the C-word. Really, what are we? In the swamps? In fifth grade?

True fact - If you go see Dark Knight, you yourself will be cursed. Things will suddenly fall on you coming out of the thearter. You will be hit by a bus. Or worse! Yay! Superstition.

There are too many C words cunt colored and cursed thought you meant the second one at first and I was baffled. I had to read the article a couple of times before realizing you were objecting to the use of the word cursed.

Still a shame for him and his family. I wonder who the young lady was.

It's official. God hates the Nolan Batman movie franchise and has been a Schumacher fan all along.

This just in from God: "The answer to the question of why men have nipples was pointing you right in the face in those films. Millions of years of planning and evolution so that I could get nipples on the movie batsuit, and they dared to oppose Me! I think not."

I hope he is alright, it looks as if he will be, i honestly thought he dead when i first read it the car turned over several times and Freeman isnt exactly a young buck but it looks he will recover fully.

There have been an awful amount of stuff happening to the cast and crew of TDK:

Heath dying of an overdose
Bale in assault scandal
crew dying on set
Freeman in car accident

Am i missing anything?.

It sounds like he'll be ok, which is good to hear.

Morgan, get yourself a driver, you can afford it.

I think I also heard Freeman told the person taking his photo "No Free Pictures." or something along those lines. If he said that, Morgan Freeman got even cooler than he already was in my book.

Morgan Freeman is way too awesome to be done in by a car crash.

The only way that Morgan Freeman is ever going to die is if he gets hit by an asteroid.

Yeah, they already tried that shit and it didn't work in Deep Impact.

The entire Confederate army wasn't able to keep him down in Glory. After the credits he got up and started singing "Lord Lord Lord", then proceeded to bend Jefferson Davis over his knee and spank him until he cried uncle.

Yep Freeman is too badass to die in a car crash. Im positive that he will make out of this ok.

I heard about this on the radio early today, apparently a few hours after it happened... it's odd how one reacts to such horrible news... if you find out the day of it seems to have more of an impact, even though you might be thousands of miles away from the accident... and yet if it happened thousands of years ago (or even thousands of hours or days ago), it doesn't seem to have such an impact.

Anybody know what kind of man Freeman is when off camera (beyond what the media portrays)?

I'm not familiar with what he's like as a person but he is one hell of an actor. Even the movies that he's done that haven't been so hot were much better simply for having him in them.

Though from the article linked in the OP:
"He was lucid, conscious," Mr McFerrin said. "He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."

...it sounds like he'll be okay.

Hopefully!

He was amazing in "Shawshank Redemption"... I really look forward to seeing him in "The Human Factor" (portraying Nelson Mandela).

When I was a kid I thought DTMF stood for 'Don't Tell Morgan Freeman'. It wasn't until my Radio & Broadcast class that I found out it actually stands for 'Dual Tone Multi Frequency'.

What does this have to do with the topic? ... Nothing.... Nothing at all.

I grew up in Tallahatchie county (where the wreck took place and where Morgan lives now). Charleston, Morgan's city of residence, held an arts talent show in the Morgan Freeman Auditorium a few years ago. A friend and I signed up to play guitars.

We caught word Morgan was coming to see his granddaughter perform. We were outside when he drove up. One of my friends had already met him in town. They shook hands first. Morgan remembered my friend even though BJ was a young boy during his earlier encounter with the actor.

I was next in line. Morgan is fucking tall. He wears an earring. Jesus, he's fucking taller than I ever expected. My uncle does construction work and once helped on a long job at Morgan's house. I reached out my hand and began to tell Morgan that was my uncle.

Morgan said with his finger raised, "I don't care." One second. In one second I was thinking I could never watch this magnificent actor on the screen again without knowing I pissed him off.

Morgan wagged his finger at me. "I really don't care."

Seconds later while I was still in shock, "Just playing with you." He touched my shoulder. We began to talk, but I don't remember what the hell we said. I saw a great performance and a funny tall man with an earring.

Excellent news!

Thank you for sharing that link.

It's still a pretty bad deal to have to experience:
"...a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage." (quote from that link)

Though at least it wasn't any *worse* than that!

There was another person in the car with him. Is there any word on how she's doing?

EDIT:
lol... not that we actually *know* who the passenger is... :p but this is more of a curiosity.

lol

ya know... people give lebeouf a hard time, though i think he's got potential. i honestly do not think he is an outstanding actor right now, however, i believe he is improving, as one would hope all the actors do. give him 10 years and i think he'll be at the top of his game.

He's about where Robert Downey Jr. was at his age, with a very similar acting style. Problem is, it seems like that's in all kinds of ways.

Or on top of busted fire hydrant! *rimshot*

BTW, if I was Adrian Grenier, I'd beat the crap out of Shia. He was driving drunk, with Adrien's girl in the car. Then again, if I was Adrien Grenier, I'd be an enormous tool.

Sounds like nothing too threatening, but at Morgan's age, he'll probably be out of commission for a while.

I'm surprised I haven't heard more talk about how JDM and RDJ look alike.

Morgan's like a more "broad-shouldered" version of Downey.

But yeah, I mean, get 2 photos of them in similar poses, clothes, haircuts, etc., and put them next to each other and ya just might be able to fool someone into thinking they're cousins, brothers, or something.

LOL! Wrong thread! haha... uhm, I thought this was the movie thread on watchmen. :-p

You laugh, but Michael Caine has barricaded himself in his home and refuses to come out until the franchise reboots.

You obviously don't remember Jonathan D. Ellis' role as 'Courthouse Reporter #2' then.

The mystery passenger might have something to do with this latest news item:

http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx/?news=325912&GT1=28101

"Morgan Freeman getting a divorce

"Just days after being in a serious car accident with a female family friend, ET confirms that the Morgan Freeman divorce rumors are true. His friend and business partner Bill Luckett confirms to ET there is a divorce pending between the actor and his wife of more than 20 years, Myrna Colley-Lee."

Also, while waiting to get my haircut last month, I was reading one of those men's magazines like Esquire or Details, and there was a one page interview with Freeman. He made a comment about not being perfect, specifically that "the lust never went away."

Jared
08-06-2008, 01:51 PM
Was anyone else hoping the passenger would be a woman named daisy?

Anyway, it's entirely possible that the woman in the car has nothing to do with the divorce. People can share vehicles with members of the opposite sex without anything going on. But not Shia Labeauf, he was totally banging Aquaman's girl.

Is that some kind of euphemism for inflatable love dolls? Or dolphin blow holes?

I could totally see "doing Aquaman's girlfriend" used as a slang phrase in a Brad Meltzer comic for taking hallucinatory drugs from Atlantis.

The female passenger in the car with Freeman, during the car accident, was Demaris Meyer.

This is from the link that "Shellhead" provided (link quoted above)...

"Freeman, 71, and Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, Tenn., were involved in the accident on a dark stretch of rural Mississippi Delta highway in Tallahatchie County."
