Starting with Hush

So I've just started with Batman, and have only read Hush volume 1, and I've got volume 2 in the post. I was thinking of simply going from hush and getting every tpb that was released after Hush up to the rip arc. I am also gonna get Son of a demon to help understand batman and son and a death in the family and probably year one. Now, I haven't got nearly as much money as i'd like to spend on comics, so I'll probably only get 1 or 2 volumes a month, but is my plan solid enough to catch up to morrisons run? I'll start from the beggining of the RIP arc of course once I get the TPB's I mentioned.

You can pretty much just start at the beginning of Morrison's run and cut out the "Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul" stuff. Continuity isn't really taken into consideration anymore so you don't really need to read any previous stuff to know what's going on. There are some pretty obvious discrepancies with "Son of the Demon" and Morrison's run, so reading that would only confuse you.
