"The story is set in autumn of 2005. Bioterrorists manage to release the T-Virus in a busy U.S. airport. The release of the zombies leads to danger of an outbreak and the terminal is closed off and guarded.

A recent trailer previewed at the Comic-Con 08 revealed more of the plot that the bio-terrorist action forced the local law enforcement to lock down the airport, giving Leon and his team 4 hours to disarm the situation or the T-Virus will be dispersed to every populated area in the U.S. It also appears in the new trailer that Leon and Claire will come face to face with a monster similar to the G-Type from Resident Evil 2."

RE: Degeneration Trailer 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBCIN5ld8BQ)

I have to say, this is looking pretty kick ass.

Leon still has his amazing RE4 agility (remeber the Laser Hallway?) and a new look to go along with it (I don't like his new look as much as his RE4 one, but maybe it'll grow on me). Not to mention he's captain of his own team now (the dudes really changed from the rookie with the RPD).

Claire looks pretty cool too. A bit different, but in a good way. And from what I can see in that trailer, she has a kid now (I wonder who the dad is...).

And for anyone who cares, heres the first trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh6EGGJ35DY&feature=related).

Also, we have a release date! October 18, 2008!

Who is on the team or was any info given, I can't watch the trailer right now. Would it be the group from the book Resident Evil: Underworld? I thought it was pretty good from what I remember reading.

Maybe it's just the quality of the video on YouTube, but I've seen better looking video game cutscenes.

Anticipation: zero.

I thought it was pretty good from what I remember reading. No info on the team was given. From what I can see, its a bunch of new people, so they'll probably all end up dead by the end of the movie. There is one guy who looks suspiciously like Barry though. Only thing is, he has brown hair so its probably someone else.

!

Kid's likely adopted or something, but it kinda bothers me she would replace Sherry like that (Personally I kinda viewed Sherry as a kind of kid sister for Claire but that's just me.)

They were together in Racoon city, but besides that, they had nothing to do with eachother. I'm glad Claire has a kid now.

Don't get me wrong. I love Sherry too, but its been 7 years. Claire has to move on with her life sometime.

Meh, I'm a sucker for the past.

Still, I have a feeling the kid's adopted, I'm probably wrong but meh.

I hope your right about adoption. That means Claire has no husband, and thats awesome.

You know, since Leon is in this, that means Ada's likely to show back up to screw with his head again.
Let's hope for a potential catfight between her and Claire.

I mean, Leon didn't seem too surprised when Ada showed up alive in RE4, just that she was now 'working' with Wesker.

Meaning at some point he must have found out she survived the events at Racoon, either during his time with the Government, or in this.

Also, this is the last time anyone will see t-virus infected creatures. From here on out, its plagas/new guys.

EDIT: Sorry. I meant it takes place a year after resident evil 4. Not racoon city.

I just watched it and thought it was great.

Heres the reception of the movie at this point:

"The film received mixed to positive reviews from critics. Neil Faerber gave high praise of the film, considering it superior to the live-action trilogy films. The website blog.wired.com gave the film 3/10.[11] The website UGO gave the film an overall score of a B."

Here are some more reviews.

Bad
http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/10/review-resident.html

All in all, this movie is doing pretty good so far (mostly good reviews), with the exception of the review from the wired blog site.

But other than than, story wise, action wise, and RE wise, it was great. I even like Leons new love interest (what is this? His third?), but this one seems like it will last since she asked him out at the end.

Also, I like how it set up for RE5. Tricell (the company wesker owns... wesker behind the scenes!) buys out Wilpharma and gathers whatever they can find at the ruins of the WilPharma research building, including part of the G-monster (wesker now has a sample of the G-Virus so you know we haven't seen the last of it). Unfortunately, this is the last of the T-Virus though guys, so say goodbye.

Too much plot, not enough zombies.

Too much plot, not enough zombies. In the second half sure, but thats how the movie is made. The first half focus' on the T-Virus while the second half focus' on the G-Virus with just bits of the T-Virus around corners.

It was nice to a G Monster again.

No Alice? Leon Kennedy? Actually stays somewhat true to the game? This one looks a HELL of a lot better than those crap movies they've been putting out.

Terrible, terrible movie. So boring and inane. Why they can't make a good movie based on such an easily accessible video game franchise I don't know.

Overall I liked the movie, since it felt very much like an RE game, where you have an initial zombie attack in some mundane, regular location, and the climax occur in a hidden and secret lab. For me, it was just great to see Leon and Claire working together, and treating the whole situation as nothing out of the ordinary, while everyone else is just freaking out. At the same time, it was interesting to see how both had grown since RE2. Claire continues to have that motherly, caring nature about her, manifested as a rescue worker (though it was a little risque hearing her utter the s-bomb). Leon, however, definitely has grown from that rookie RPD cop into a cool-headed leader and tactician. Speaking about a romance, I too wish there was something something going on between Leon and Claire. Though that wasn't the case, there were some very deep moments between them, most notably the tent conversation and the ending. Though it isn't romantic, I would still say that the relationship between the two is still very intimate and close. I hope to see more of it in the future.

To those that complain. What is you guys problem? This movie has the characters from the game and the plot follows more closely to the game than the live action movie does, also there is no Alice in this movie

So I have to ask what do you guys want? You complain that you want a actual Resident Evil movie and just when you get it you still complain

I just want to say that the whole movie I was waiting for Ada to pop out of nowhere and manipulate Leon again.
I loved the movie, don't get me wrong, but kept expecting Ada to show up..

Well anyway, nice to see this somewhat ties into RE5, looks like Wesker has samples of the G-virus now.

If anything Im confident that, if this movie has a sequel, Wesker will be used right and be treated as a actual threat like the games are doing.

I find the live action version ok but after how Nemisis is treated I cant help but be cautious on how Wesker is going to be used in any future RE movies as far as the live action version is concerned

Agreed, Movie Nemesis was butchered.
Game version laughs at him.
Yeah, it would neat to see another movie focusing on Wesker.

Wesker always had a simple of the G-virus. He has the remains of William Berkin.

I liked the movie. It felt like a 90 minute cutscene but it was definitely better than all three live action movies. I was disappointed with the movie's ending. I was waiting for Wesker to pop up but he never did. :frown:

I was actually hoping we'd get some incite as to what other characters like Barry, Rebecca, and Billy were up to, since the RED movie director (or whatever he'd be called for this) said he'd cover whats been going on with other characters in this movie in an interview, but he never did. :frown:

I wonder would the lack of Wesker have anything to do with his appearance in the Live Action version? Or could they just be saving him for a possible sequel?
