Not surprising the BBC didn't put in much oversight... the BBC didn't make it! Spaced is a Channel 4 production...

I believe BBC Video is releasing the R1 DVD in the US but it's still a wee bit of a schoolboy error to call it a BBC made programme.

This month's Empire has a rather good article about the history of the programme, it's worth picking up.
