So, I want to buy my little sister a trade paperback for her 16th birthday. She's read the "Teen Titans Year One" series, and liked it, so I thought I'd get her a Teen Titans trade paperback.
Which Teen Titans trade paperback is the best? I've never read any, so I have no idea >.<
Thanks =) <3

If you want to step it up, I'd suggest picking up The New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. It's probably their most classic storyline to date. Anything from Geoff Johns' run was quite good too.

For a 16 year old girl it's a tough call. The Showcase books are cheesey but a teen is probably too old to find them cute and too young to appreciate cheese.
Judus Contract also has my vote for quality.
Anyone care to recommend a more recent story?
A Kid's Game might be a decent place to start since its the start of the newest mainstream TT series. I thought it was well written and displayed great showings between not only the Teen Titans but also Deathstroke and the Justice League.

I wouldn't recommend any of the current Teen Titans series. It's joyless, morose and about as far from the tone of that Year One miniseries as you can get. The Wolfman/Perez stuff is a little better, and really only suffers from the fact that so much that came after it was poorly aping it while largely missing the point (see above), but since she's coming to it fresh, that shouldn't be a problem.
You might want to give the Teen Titans Go! digests a look-see, as well.
And if she likes Teen Titans, she'd probably dig Legion of Superheroes, too, you might want to check some of that out.

While we're on the subject of LOSH, you might want to pick this (http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=9353) up.

I liked the first Future Titans book and the One Year Later book out of the most recent series.

Picking up the Judas Contract for a 16 year old girl who wants to get into comics is a huge huge mistake, mostly because they have no clue to the titans history and would be lost in its place in the overall scheme of things. Starting mid major stuff in a wolfman story is a great way to turn them off the title.
I mean its a great story, but for this situation its a poor place to start.
Honestly Geoffs titans are some of the best written comics in a long long time, so I pick her up the Trade A Kids Game, which starts with his issue #1 and goes forward into the run. If she likes that, which she should Beast Boys and Girls, Family Lost, The Insiders/Outsiders trade, The Future is Now are all amazing stories with great enjoyable characters. Theres action, theres humor, theres love, theres loss, she definately should enjoy Geoffs great run. Plus Mckone is a super fantastic artist as well.

I was 13-14 when the original issues for the Judas Contract came out. Loved the Titans then. I don't know how well it works in the trade as a stand alone story, but most of those older Titans issue aren't too expensive if she was more curious about them.
The Wolfman/Perez Titans were the pinnacle sadly. I still collect the Titans and most recently the Judd Winick relaunch of the 80's era characters. I just haven't felt the same connection to the characters.

I dont think you are going to find anything like Teen Titans Year One, none of the books share that books tone. That being said, Judas Contract is great, as is the first 3 or 4 volumes of Geoff Johns run on the Teen Titans.

Young Justice stuff is a lot more in tone with that Teen Titans year one than most of the actual Teen Titans mainstream stuff. Too bad its not in trade *rolls eyes at DC*. The current Teen Titans stuff is pretty emo, so I wouldn't go there... I'd actually go the route of getting the first 10 issues or so of Young Justice which is a fun version of Teen Titans from the nineties. It's not as slick looking as a trade paperback would look, but if you can convince her to read it she'd like it a lot more.

Agreed. I loved that storyline.

Thanks so much for all the advice!
I got her "A Kids Game". I gave it to her yesterday, and she was pretty excited (she hasn't read it yet, but I thought it looked good, and so did she =) ).
I've been looking for Young Justice too. I asked at the comic book store, and the guy said it was out of print, but it might be available on-line. I found a few issues on e-bay, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Are there Trade Paperbacks? I found "Young Justice: a league of their own" but is this the first? are there more?
Thanks again for all the recommendations! If my sister likes A Kids Game, I'll give her all your other recommendations to check out =)

Sadly there is only one Young Justice Trade in print, you will have to track down the story individually unfortunately, but it is great and right up her alley. On another note, you may want to see if Blue Beetle is right for her. He's a teen superhero that has a good supprting cast right around that age. Plus they do stuff that normal teens currently do, so it might not be too big of a stretch for her.

I disagree with the KcKeever statement, I found the storyline to be pretty good and the writing wasn't bad at all. Now I do not like Starro at all and find the villain to be a lame plot device to force heroes to fight each other and the one Starro-controled always loses. However the hints dropped about future traitors and what not was very interesting. The light tie-in to Sinestro Corps War was carried out well and the interaction between future and current Titans was good although it did drag in some aspects.

I don't know, I was 8 when I started reading New Teen Titans... with issue #2 of the deluxe series. I had no idea what the backstory was with Raven and Trigon, but I went with it, and was soon tracking down back issues.
It's still probably my favorite Titans story.
Back to the Judas Contract, according to The Trade Paperback List (http://tplist.millarworld.net/titans.html), there's a collection of the Terra story arc that sets everything up.
Of the current series, I'd mainly recommend "Beast Boys and Girls" and
"The Future is Now." The rest of it? Not so much.

If you want Young Justice you'll have to go on ebay. There's only one trade out. However, they're way cheap. For instance, this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/Young-Justice-1-22-Specials-Full-Run_W0QQitemZ290250358011QQihZ019QQcategoryZ3953QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is selling the first 22 issues for only 15 bucks that's including shipping (and no it's not my auction :-P ).
I can't recommend Young Justice enough. It's a fun light hearted adventure series with strong female characters. It's really too bad it's not in TPB format. DC went through a fun peroid that they seem intent on forgetting...
I'll second Blue Beetle. It's the only mainstream ongoing title DC is doing right now that has a tone close to Teen Titans Year One. The new Blue Beetle hasn't been around that long, so there's not tons of continuity to slog through. All of his adventures are available in three (or is it four now?) trade paperbacks.
