Inspired by a conversation I had with my brother. Kind of an odd topic, but what the hell? Odd topics are fun.

If it was up to you to cast an actor to portray a pirate, which actor would you pick? It can be any actor playing any kind of pirate.

Me, I once wrote a short script for a fake Pirates of The Caribbean sequel trailer, in which I decided to cast Willem Dafoe as the main bad guy. For some reason, his face was the first that appeared to me when I thought "evil undead pirate captain." I blame the mirror scene in the first Spiderman movie.

Also, for some reason I've always wanted to see Jim Broadbent as this aging pirate chief with a flair for melodrama hiding a very cunning and sinister mind.

Right, those are my two. Who's next?

Just for laughs, I would like to see Woody Allen and Jeff Goldblum cast as pirates. Mostly so I can laugh *at* them.

........that would be cool . a pirate ship was one of the few places blacks could be in charge back then - losta excaped slaves made up their crews and captains - then hollywood took over and did a honky reboot
