My big problem is that I will try and sit down and read stuff and end up not even cracking open the book. That's partly why I am starting to think that it's time to convert to trades or not read at all.

As I typed out this response, I remembered that I have the WANTED TPB and about 6~8 volumes of USAGI YOJIMBO sitting in my closet. I really need to stop buying books until I have finished reading everything that I have lying around the house!

If I did that I wouldn't by anything for a year! I just like to buy back issues in giant runs, so that's why I have so many. I also like to get stuff like Masterworks and Essentials while I can get good discounts on them. I get to all the trades I buy, eventually, it just takes time.

Don't be too jealous. The reason I haven't read the Thor one is that I haven't got volume 2 yet...

Ok. I have the Thor vols 1,2,4,5! They really didn't solicit for #3 and it had a low print run. Look at what this is going for on Amazon!!! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/078511047X/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219839965&sr=1-1) There isn't even one up on ebay. I've been holding on to #'s 4-5 until I get vol 3. How crappy is that!?!?! However, according to an old Marvel previews (I think it was when either 4 or 5 was solicited for) it had a small print comment that vol's 2 & 3 were going to be out again soon. So be on the lookout for them!

Enjoy the Kirkman book. It's ok. Not outstanding, but fun.

I'm approaching the Kirkman book with a bit of trepidation.

I've heard is Ultimate X-Men is terrible and the Marvel stuff I've read by him was Captain America: Civil War (terrible) and The Irrideemable Ant Man (good) so it could go either way...

Actually, I rather liked his Ultimate X-Men run. The Cable / Prof X / Sinister / Apoclaypse thing was pretty good!

I was more peeved that 94 (his last ish) ends, and 95 starts in a totally different place.

Wow - that's an opinion I haven't heard before. How did you find his Captain America?

It was eh... I think it was only 4 issues, part of the dissambeled time - but had nothing to do with it. There were some LMD's involved, and a few fun turns, but I'd recommend a dozed other Cap stories before that one.

I also was not a fan of Dave Johnson's covers.

Awwww... issue #29 is one of my favorite Cap covers! Hated the run, but loved that cover.

Oh, and if you haven't read the Wieringo Modern Masters volume yet, then don't. It'll just make you sad. Really sad. I know, I just finished it Friday on the train/bus ride home.

Am reading THE FLASH COMPANION now from TwoMorrows, which is notable for its lack of a Mike Wieringo interview. Mark Waid does a nice tribute to him, though.

What I've read of the rest of the book is stellar, though. I'm sticking with the more modern FLASH era, but it's all really good. Waid talks about his attempt to guide the Wally West ship a second time, but honestly calls it a complete failure. There's a lot of pages devoted to his great IMPULSE run. Good stuff.

It is good to hear that he thinks so as well. Reading the Rogues' Revenge mini-series has longing for the days when The Flash was my favorite monthly title.

And I have done it again. Instead of reading something off of my unread pile, I purchased ALL-STAR SUPERMAN TPB Vol. 1 and CAPTAIN AMERICA: OPERATION REBIRTH TPB this week. For some reason, I have a good feeling that there is a better chance that these books get read as soon as they arrive.
