Apparantly the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov is going to be made into a film and possibly a trilogy (http://liveforfilm.blogspot.com/2008/07/asimovs-foundation-to-be-movified.html)

Anyone else think that this could be a tricky thing to get right? Been a few years since I've read any of it but they covered masses amount of time and numerous planets. This could turn out to be a great big mess.

Of course it'll be a trilogy. Everything is a trilogy. Trilogies are teh awesomes!!!11!!1ONE

But yeah, I ahve no faith in anyone's ability to adapt Foundation.

Now I must go read Foundation again.

Mr Asmov will be turning in his grave again after this Hollywood blunder.

I'm not surprised that they'd go with a trilogy - aside from the more movies more money thing (I'm cynical) there is no way they could make it work in a single movie.

Or work well, I should say. In fact I can't imagine it working all that well in a trilogy either, or on film at all, the scope just feels to large.

Rather than go along with the usual fanboy Chicken Little routine, I'll reserve judgment at least until we have something more than an announcement to go on.

I think the words "Standalone film that could be made into a trilogy" just goes in every pitch no matter what it is by now.

Well, Akiva Goldsman doesn't seem to be involved this time. Yet, anyway.

I suppose this means I'll have to break down and buy the series before they put out the new editions with the actors' faces on.

I would rather they had done Caves of Steel or Some of the stories in The Rest of The Robots. I always liked the one about the 3 robots sent down to the surface of Jupiter that accidently intimidated the jovians so much that they gave up plans to conquer the solar system. That was a fun little story.
