Haunted Tank vol 2

This sold quite well in the list of trade paperbacks sales for June. How good is it? These DC war volumes look like they have nice art but what about the stories? Are they simplistic or worth reading?

It has been decades since I read any Haunted Tank issues, but from what I remember, it was an intelligent and gritty comic book that was years ahead of its time. In particular, I remember one issue that made reference to Jesse Owens, at a time when black characters were still rare in mainstream comics.
