Just got done reading Contagion (thank god it was only one paperback) some of Chucks best dialogue especially concerning Catwoman.
Anyways i was wondering what everyones favorite Batman cross-over/event was?
And only those that stayed within the Batman "family" like No mands land or Contagion etc etc.

i don't know like the last scene she was in she tapped Robin on the head with her whip and said "wakey wakey birdboy" typing it doesn't sound funny but i was loling
He writes great women they are usually somewhat snarky and sarcastic and very independant.
and smart.

That's a tough one. I think I'd probably go with NML, but I also liked Bruce Wayne: Murderer? & Bruce Wayne: Fugitive a lot. Knightfall was also very good. In fact, despite certain plot developments which I didn't care for, all in all, I also enjoyed War Games a lot.

That's the first story I thought of when I saw the thread title.
The follow-up (Legacy) is quite good too.

No Man's Land and Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive rocked the house like nobody's business.
Knightfall was great while it was happening, but knowing that Bruce was coming back anyway took some of the spice out of it. I still dig Bane, though. He can still be an admirable villain with the proper creative mind behind his deeds. His appearence in Checkmate was sweet.
The followups were alright, nothing great, though Bats vs. Azbats was nice.
With Officer Down, I have many parallel yays and nays about it, with how it happened and the aftermath of it all. I'm glad it served a greater purpose with Bullock and Gotham Central.

The one thing im sort of confused about is in this book Montoya is straight and has a boyfriend.
I didn't even know she ever pretended to be straight...

Anything not R.I.P.

Lot of good Batman cross-overs to choose from here, but I'll go with a tie between Knightfall and No Man's Land, with R.I.P. getting an honorable mention for the story thusfar.

Another vote for No Man's Land. I remember a lot of criticism when it first came out, but to me it was an awesomely epic and engaging Bat-story.

In no order:
Knightfall
KnightQuest: The Crusade
KnightsEnd
No Man's Land
Bruce Wayne: Murderer?
I hated KF:The Search and BW:Fugitive was a big dissapointment.
Oh, and HUSH wasn't a mega event or crossover, it was just a really overhyped story arc.

Actually, Montoya was originally a straight character, as you indicate. Greg Rucka later decided to retcon all that and turn her into a lesbian. Personally, I wish he would have just created a new character rather than do a 180 degree turn on an existing character's sexuality.

Your post sums up my thoughts in regards to the better Bat-crossovers. If I had to rank them, It'd probably go something like:
No Man's Land
Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive
Knightfall
Officer Down
Was not as big a fan of Contagion, Cataclysm, Hush, Legacy, or the more recent Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul. I did like some parts of Legacy, though, like its setup issue revealing Bane as the new "Ubu" and being allied with Ra's. But the virus plot felt worn-out from being used previously in Contagion.

Cataclysm
No Man's Land
Officer Down
Bruce Wayne: Murderer?/Fugitive
Haven't read a one of them in years, though.

I loved No Man's Land, followed by Contagion, KnightsEnd, and Cataclysm.
I didn't read Murderer or Fugitive because Catwoman wasn't involved.
Legacy wasn't as epic and therefore not as thrilling to me as Contagion.
War Games sucked hard (although it's not so bad now knowing Steph survived), and Officer Down scored points for being Catwoman-centric at the beginning, but then lost them all for using her in the wrong way.

Knightall is my favorite Batman crossover. I liked how Venom took down Bats and Broken Bat was shocking and exciting !
Other top favorites who get honorable mentions in ranking order :
Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive - Bruce Wayne in prison was so interesting. I liked Bodygaurd too, specially Sasha B before they retconned her away from Batman.
No Man's Land - was interesting mostly cause the lack of Batman/Bruce Wayne and seeing other Gotham heroes, police dealing with the situation on their own. I like "Gangs of New York" angle with everyone owning their own neigberhoods.

Was that actually a retcon? I know a lot of lesbians who have had relationships with men in the past. And a lot of women who have gone from women to men. And men who once dated men now dating women who once dated men who are now dating other men.
I don't think it's a 180 degree turn so much as it's a case of sexuality being a fluid thing (edit: horrible pun definitely not intended) for some people.
I only ask because I wasn't reading the book when she came out. If she actually said she's never been involved with men and it really was a retcon, I would have missed that.

Can't decide between No Man's Land and Murderer/Fugitive. Shame all of the fallout from M/F was blatantly ignored.
specially Sasha B before they retconned her away from Batman.News to me, and she's one of my all time favourite DC characters. How was she retconned?

RIP, followed by Contagion
This is strange. Conceptually I like Death in the Family the best, I just wish it read as well off the page as it does playing in my mind. Terrorists, nuclear smuggling, Joker hanging out with the Ayatollahs, Jason being betrayed by his bitch of a mother. It should be a great story, but when I actually try and read it, it's embarrassing.
Contagion still reads well. It reads better than NML or Knightfall which, as is the case with Death in the Family, are great milestone events to mull over, but they just don't have the same zing when you actually pick them up.
Officer Down, Fugitive, War Crimes - none of these ever happened as far as I'm concerned
