Let me start off by saying if you haven't seen the Dark Knight yet, you may want to stear clear of this thread and don't go any farther as there may be spoilers. You have been warned.

Ok, for those of you still here...
I just finished watching the Dark Knight again and on the way home, I was having a discussion with my cousin and sister. We were debating who's fall was more tragic: Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, or Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. My personal view was that Dent's fall was more tragic as Anakin wanted more and more power and was whiney little pussy. Dent was a good guy who only wanted to make things better and suffered a major tragedy due to circumstances he did not create. Others may debate that. My cousin sides with Anakin. Of course, he also thought Iron Man was better than The Dark Knight. It's all a matter of opinion, and I wanna know yours.

Harvey Dent, all the way. Anakin's fall wasn't moving or convincing at all.

Dent, because his was not from ambition.

Dent. He was honestly trying to do the good thing for his community. He didn't have any alterior motives.

Anakin was a whinny girly man who just always wanted more. He was a spoiled brat.

What's wrong with always wanting more? I vote neither cause both movies suck.

I say Dent. Because really, what's so tragic about some whiney angst-ridden teenager-type getting his limbs chopped off and left to die near a lava flow? Where I am, we call that Thursday!

Harvey's was more tragic. That said, it was a pretty quick fall.

I guess I have a very different definition of "tragedy" than most people here. Dent's fall, to me, was barely tragic at all. It was sadder and more affecting than Anakin's, but not more tragic.

Dent did not create his own misery. His fall was horrible and sad and somewhat ironic, but it wasn't some fatal flaw that ended up bringing him down. It was just a sad accident and the resulting madness.

Anakin, on the other hand, fell thanks to his own foolishness, pride and ambition. His story might not have been exceptionally well told, but I think the elements of real tragedy are there.

Anikin's 'Fall' turned him from a lame beyond lame character to one of cinema's premier villains. That's a fall?

It's like he went from DIVX to DVD.

The most tragic thing is that it does not say "whose" in the title of this thread. :frown:
