American Flagg HC

Hey gang,

I have my copy of the American Flagg HC in my hands right now. It's out tomorrow. It's beautiful. Ken Bruzenak comes back to letter the new story at the end. Jim Lee does an afterwards, which is dated "September 2004." Chip Kidd designed the whole thing and it looks great. Michael Chabon did an intro I haven't read yet.

But it's the comics that are the star of this book and they look great. They used solid white paper for this book. The new colors aren't garish. They don't look muddy. The black linework holds up very strongly. It's a gorgeous presentation of some great comics work.

If you have the chance, pick it up!

Was it worth the wait?

I was really annoyed the other month at Sydney's big con that Howard Chaykin was out, and I didn't have the hardcover there for him to sign.
Would've been a little more fulfilling having that signed than the issues I did get signed.
(The first issues of American Century, Blackhawk, and a Black Kiss Collection*)


*I had no idea what Black Kiss was until I brought it and opened it up. Honestly!

Sounds like all the effort that went into getting this one right paid off. Can't wait to FINALLY read this.
