I just read some october solicits and once again something from the past has to alter the future of the X-Men. Well I am going to say this. X-Men has gotten too gimmick driven when it comes to stories where they have to say nothing will ever be the same every year. I remember a simpler time when the X-Men had decent stories. I am tired of all these past motives not being true. The X-Men need to look more to the future then maul over every story in the past.

I don't feel like Messiah Complex or Manifest Destiny were gimmicky. Maybe Divided We Stand though, since there wasn't really any division. It was a roundabout way of saying "The X-Men take a vacation apart from each other."

I would not make the thread if they didn't put out the solicits so early.

Depends on the title.
X-Factor is obviously not gimmicky.
Astonishing, as much as I love Whedon and I love his Astonishing run, it got gimmicky at the end there. Warren Ellis promises to not be gimmicky tho'.
Legacy has gotten gimmicky, but it's a good gimmicky. It's well-written gimmicky.
Uncanny has gotten extremely gimmicky. That's all Brubaker seems to do on the title, swooping from "Oh Look!" to "Oh Look!" Marketing driven moment to marketing driven moment.

SE tie-in, lol?
Oh, right, 'sucking the cred out of another book/event' isn't quite the exact definition of a gimmick.
Agreed on the rest, though.

Not sure about gimmick, but since when did EVERYTHING need a arc title. We have always had issues titles, fine, but I do not need 3 issues of characters picking their noses given a title.

I thought you were boycotting the X-Titles?

No I said I dropped X-Men Legacy, Uncanny, Cable, and Young X-Men. I still get X-Factor and X-Force. I never said I was boycotting all the titles. Perhaps next time solicits come out they should put them on a page where I can not see them so I wont continue to complain.

The spider-man books have become the most gimmick driven.
Reboot the marriage and then bring back a mysterious character who looks like mj who will only be found out when sales are down,
Give all three spidey tittles the same continuity and have a new artistic time for every arc.
Make him a psuedo teenager again.
And lets not forgot about all the other gimmick driven stories before then like sins past and what not.

Does it really matter if they are gimmicky, just as long as you enjoy what your reading, and thoroughly agree with Pariah Spidey books are way more gimicky, that and the ultimate universe

I said no, because all the "Gimmick" stuff has been entertaining to me. However, yeah, if they didn't use the term "And the X-Men will never be the same!" for the next couple of years, you wouldn't see me complain.

One really has to watch PAD's "tie ins". His CW tie-in actually had almost nothing to do with CW at all. X-Factor said "SHRA sucks!" and then went on with their own stories.
