You're going to have to mud wrestle Hi-Fi for that title.

Oh, if Hi-Fi was on line he'd be all over this.

I was about to post the link myself - wonder why CBR didn't. They usually do and it looks like it's been up for a while.

Also yay! Northstar, Aurora and Husk are all going to show up in the Secret Invasion: X-men.

Rogue is absolutely at the center of the arc that starts with #219. She also appears in #215, and the scenes there ought to be some indication of where we’re going in that arc. I think it will be cool; it’s the pay-off I’ve been building towards since I started writing Rogue.

December seems so far away. Damn you, Wolverine Origins crossover!!

*Bobby getting major play (both in powers, journeys, and girls)
*Rogue payoff finally coming after Carey's been talking about it since before Blinded by the Light.
*Husk, Northstar, and Aurora appearing in the Secret Invasion mini.

The Mike Carey we long for is back. But if that girl is just a random broad, I'm gonna be angry. I don't miss Chuck Austen's "I'll do anybody" Iceman one bit.

I am very curious about Mercury since she is in Manifest Destiny and SI:X-Men but not listed as one of the people who aren't in a current team...since she's clearly in San Francisco I'd say that counts her out as the NXM showing up in X-Factor...

So for the ex-New X-Men like her and X-23 who aren't part of the "Young X-Men" but are still showing up in the yellow/black NXM costumes...what will their status as X-Men be?

And since he never talks about Dazzler, he is clearly homophobic to boot.

Well in the Free Comic Book Day X-men book Cyke did say that the school was in session (and that Pixie was truant).

I'm guessing some of the NXM kids will be in San Fran at the new "school". I imagine more like background or supporting players to the main teams.

I guess but it wouldn't really make sense for like Mercury to not be on the Young X-Men team whilst Rockslide and Anole are. And why would Pixie be on the adult team instead? Atleast they'll still be around though.

I do not care for Legacy and its X-Positions. It is nothing but a framework for codswallop and queef to permeate our fragile minds!

The panels are tired with little vibrancy to endear them to me, and there is absolutely no verve in the writing whatsoever. All we have are drawn out remixes of previously scene panels from X-history - it's more excruciating than a remix of Kylie by Eminem. The worst part is that they add little to our resident bald headed patriarch who is in sore need of a good supporting cast so as to stop him from toppling from his pedestal and taking the book down with him.

Oh Carey, how far you've fallen since Lucifer. Now you need pigeons to make your book interesting. At least he got rid of Magneto and put him in the capable hands of Brubaker.

Mike Carey: The “MD” story does put Bobby through the wringer in some very traumatic ways, and it does leave him in a different place, emotionally and in terms of how he views his role as an X-Man. The seriousness isn’t going away, Jo -- Bobby’s a veteran of a lot of conflicts, one of the most experienced X-Men, and he doesn’t feel the need any more to hide his insecurities behind flippant remarks. I mean, he’ll still make the occasional wisecrack, but he’s not a kid any more and he won’t be acting like one.

One of the things we’re exploring in the “Manifest Destiny” story is precisely this question of the limits of Iceman’s power. We have him doing a couple of very interesting -- and quite new -- things, while staying true to the internal logic of what we already know about his powers.

I almost cried. Don't laugh at me.

I'm officially naming him, Uncle Mike.

i think that many of the former New X-Men members will be a part of the rotating cast. i am sure that they will get their share.

i am already impressed by how they seem to be integrating into things quite smoothly.

Young X-Men raises more questions....it was assembled by Donald Pierce most likely...yet Cyclops is going to continue with it. Why distinguish this team from the large rotating cast team?

i suppose we might find out once this hot tranny mess of a first arc concludes.

He meant it in the sense that when he came on he was writing them as a team book. Then it transitioned into a book about Xavier so it would be going backwards if it was made a team book again.

I actually am very unexcited about Iceman. I like the "badass"ness of Rogue in "X-Men", but I'm tiring of the "put through the wringer" process and subsequent uber-seriousness of their character arcs.

I enjoy Mike's writing a lot with injected levity (which Lady M provided but the rest could as easily substitute in their own way) *and* the high intensity, but the character development is starting to feel very broody and...not for me. Sam and Bobby weren't really that much fun when they weren't being homoerotic, and his plans here seem to be much less gay than they were in X-Men.

He may be a good writer, but I'm sick of reading about Xavier. Setting up 12 issues revolving around him, moving at a snail's pace and featuring pointless and incidental cameos from more interesting characters was a mistake.

I'm tired of waiting for Rogue to show up and resolve her situation, too. Whatever momentum that was built up has dissipated, much like the momentum in Astonishing.

It's quite depressing, really. Xavier till Christmas, no pre-200 team and no Gambit or Magneto.

I do like Xavier, and I am happy a writer wants to explore his past and motivations and all that, but even I agree you can only have him as the lead for so long. He's not a lead character, and I think Gambit leaving is a mistake. It seemed like it was building up to be an 'ensemble' series if not a team, but apparently not.

Gambit 'might be back later'. Anyone think he might be in the Rogue arc after the Daken stuff is over with?

Lordy, I hope we get more than one page of Rogue in the next issue. *Squeels* I can barely wait for it to come out!

Agreed. And then we prepare for a loong, cold, Rogue-less winter.....:frown:

Gambit getting out from Carey's pen for a while can only be a good thing. Hopefully, he'll turn up in Uncanny instead of Rogue's arc. I'm sure Carey can find some other plot device for Rogue to angst over.

I thought so too, but they've apparently been asking about the character around the X-office according to Joe's blog. Maybe it's Faction that has a thing for the character?

Rogue has always been cool, but Carey really made her super awesome. Then he got her all whacked out, which was fine. Then she got shot, not a huge deal... except she was in a coma for 1000 years, yea that sucks. But then she woke up!! Yes! Rogue is finally back!!!! Woohoo... wait a second... now she's in limbo for however many months. Ok is this starting to frustrate anyone....?
Do you hear this, Hi-Fi?

Look at what Carey is doing to poor Rogue!

Doesn't Bru dislike Gambit?
I'm liking Bru more every day.

So I guess this confirms that Mike will not be getting a team book after Legacy wraps up, huh?
Yeah, but he's been hinting at an ensemble book... which to be fair is what most of us thought Legacy was going to be anyway.

Xaiver, Rogue, Sage & Lockheed plz!!

If he isn’t acting like a kid anymore, Paul N. White-Davis wants to know if Iceman’s powers will be maturing as well.

During (and after) the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline, it was revealed that Iceman's potential powers included the ability to, in essence, teleport via reverse-freezing molecules (or something like that). When Emma took over his body when she first joined the X-Men, she also noted that he only uses a fraction of his potential power.

I personally think Iceman's powers have yet to be fully explored and would welcome you guys to do so. Any chance of this happening soon?

Mike Carey: I’m really glad you asked, Paul -- and I agree with you. One of the things we’re exploring in the “Manifest Destiny” story is precisely this question of the limits of Iceman’s power. We have him doing a couple of very interesting -- and quite new -- things, while staying true to the internal logic of what we already know about his powers.

It's been a long time coming, but it looks like Mike hasn't forgotten about us Iceman fanatics...

The girl in that MD page looks Asian... I hope it's not Opal.

And Mike Carey writes Iceman. He clearly loves the gays.

Hey stop that... He has a "girl" (not a guy) hanging all over him in that MD panel.

He slept with Mystique and had a relationship with Cloud. This is deeply canon stuff.

I keep hearing rumors that Bobby is squaring off against Galactus... Does anyone think there is any truth to that? If anything, it would test his abilities to their limits, and probably prompt him to do something different with his powers. But then again, Carey and Lowe say that it's a major X-Men villain, not a major Marvel villain... My guess is that it might be a fully powered Juggernaut.

Not much of a contest there, since Exodus can probably shut Bobby's mind down before he can react... Unless Bobby's got something up his sleeve - the new thing Mike was talking about.
