I've only ever encountered this alternate universe in exiles but it looked interesting was there a series at some time or does it just pop up from time to time?

There was an entire line of books in the early and mid-'90s. SPIDER-MAN 2099 by Peter David and DOOM 2099 by Warren Ellis were especially good.

There was a whole line of 2099 comics published for about 4-5 years, actually.

Spider-Man 2099 - 46 issues [written by Peter David]
Doom 2099 - 44 issues [later issues written by Warren Ellis]
X-Men 2099 - 35 issues
Punisher 2099 - 34 issues
Ravage 2099 - 33 issues [all new character written by Stan Lee]
Ghost Rider 2099 - 25 issues [later issues had art by Ashley Wood]
Hulk 2099 - 10 issues
Fantastic Four 2099 - 8 issues
X-Nation 2099 - 6 issues [because we can always use multiple X titles no matter what line of comics Marvel publishes :-p]
2099 Unlimited - 10 issues [anthology series - introduced Hulk 2099]

The whole line was cancelled and then combined into 2099: World of Tomorrow which only lasted 8 issues. The 2099-verse was then "completed" with the 2099: Manifest Destiny one-shot.

There were some nice highlights like the previous poster mentioned. I enjoyed the Spidey issues, myself. X-Men wasn't really that great and I still have yet to read Doom but, I've always heard great things about it.

Unfortunately, you may have to track down individual issues. I believe there may have been a few trades, but that's it.

Your local comic book store's "cover price"/50% off/dollar comic bin... Right next to all those copies of X-Men #1 and X-Force #1 from the same era.

I wish that was true =( They do not stock anything remotley old....the oldest thing i could find was an issue of detective comics from 06

I have no idea what they do with there old issues, maybe the 2099 serious is collected in tpb's or hc's? I'll browse some marvel!

Don't forget Peter David's brilliant work as writer, he really brought a soul to Miggy O'Hara and his supporting cast, especially Lyla the hologram, Conchata and Xina.
Credit where it's due: Peter David sure can write great female characters!

Rumor Has it that they are supposed to bring back the 2099 universe soon. Thought I read it on Cup o'Joe or something

That'd be cool but only if Spider-Man 2099 is written by Peter David, I don't care who handles the art chores.

I agree, ED. I was always partial to Hulk 2099 - must've been the tongue! Here's a link to a checklist of the Marvel 2099 titles, along with other related titles:

I remember Christmas of '94 I got some Spidey, Doom, X-Men, Ravage, and Punisher. I thought they were okay.

Good place to find back issues, and I'm sure the 2099 titles are pretty cheap.
