It was revealed in the most recent Joe Fridays that Paul Jenkins is involved in a major Marvel project for 2009.

Does anyone care to speculate on what that project is?

I'm think it has something to do with the sentry and the supposed revelation about he character...

I'm not sure what is happening cause I heard (don't remember where) that Fraction is writing the next marvel event and it's the one with the "No one is on our side" commercials. I'm not sure I want to see something from Jenkins. I loved his PPSM and Hellblazer, and his Revelations mini in Dark Horse, but Spectacular became a joke towards the end, and Frontline #11 destroys the whole series. frontline WWH was also a joke.

Fontline: Sentry. it'll be 12 issues of Jenkins trading in on his creation of the Sentry as some of his last good work, filled with Sally Floyd and Ben Urich saying and doing stupid things.

This doesn't sound good.

For the record I thought that Generation M, CW Front Line and WWH Front Line were all brilliant comic books and I'm really excited about the prospect of Paul Jenkins writing Marvel's big 2009 event.

With any luck he'll be putting Sally Floyd right back on centre stage too!

I haven't heard that Matt Fraction's possibly writing Marvel's 2009 event. That would be great.

I also don't believe that the major project Jenkins is involved in is Marvel's big event of 2009. He may write some side-stories, as he did with Civil War and World War Hulk.

Given Jenkins's history on Hellblazer and Hellspawn, and the rumors that Mephisto's going to be a major force in the next big event, I wouldn't be surprised if Jenkins writes some tie-ins for the event, focusing on Mephisto.

Unlikely. Given Jeff Parker is doing that in Age of Sentry.

Are we going to have one crossover each year? Honestly they need to stop and do more character development.

As long as these events keep on making so much money and selling so many books, then Marvel will not stop making them. It doesn't matter if the quality of the books decline, they're in this for the money.

Maybe he'll make Spider-Man good again. Again.

Dosen't mean anything. This could just be the last chance Marvel get to flesh out The Sentry before Paul Jenkins kills him off. Which I believe was his plan all along. :frown:

Agreed. Maybe letting the talent really cut loose on regular books? Even new series or limited series instead of 'events' where one or two creators steer the course for everyone else? The original Ultimate books were huge successes and didn't make everyone else bend to Bendis' or Millar's whims. Heck, I think UFF/Ultimates/USM did BETTER than some of these event books.

Have the big pow wow and let tell the writers they can lay anything they want on the table. Reed and his ilk I'm positive can do some absolutely incredible things with their monthly titles if they don't have to keep incorporating 'the next big thing' into them. then the hype machine can go behind promoting monthly titles that sell on their own merits rather than riding the coattails of some overhyped event.

On a slightly unrelated note, I was in my LCS this morning and the owner and I were talking about the possibility of Paul Jenkins writing the big 2009 Marvel event. Anyway, it turns out (according to my local version of the Simpsons’ Comic Shop Guy) that Paul Jenkins has a house in the very next town to me. Just a couple of miles up the road!

Apparently, although he's in the US at the moment, he's due to come back to his house near me around Christmas time. The guy at my local comic shop is gonna try to get him to come in and do a signing when he gets back around these parts.

Of course, I don't know whether this is true (I'm a tad sceptical to be honest) but if it is, I think it's pretty cool to have a comic writer who I really rate living just a few miles from me.

Just wanted to mention it…that's all.

I hate big projects.

I wish he was working on a small project.

Ok, that means the "suspension" time for knocking down Steve Rogers & especially Tony Stark is over.

I rather have Busiek or Rucka returning to Marvel than this hack who wrote Frontline: CW.
