This is for a friend of mine ( a teacher) who wanted to know if there are any heroes that are teachers in thier civilian identities and I of course went blank when she asked me. So help me help her out.

Well, Professor Xavier was a teacher at one point, but not sure if that counts. In fact, most of the X-Men were teaching one thing or another during the years of the New Mutants / Academy X / New X-Men books.

However, I'm guessing that's not exactly what your friend is looking for. She probably means something more like Huntress (from Birds of Prey), whose civilian identity is a more traditional teacher to normal, civilian kids while not in cape & tights.

Spiderman was, don't know if he still is. Was black panther a teacher in anything other than the earths mightiest heroes miniseries?

Helena Bertinelli, the Huntress, was a schoolteacher. I'm not sure if the new Huntress mini has retconned that.

Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi (The Atom) were both physics professors.

The Greatest American Hero and The Bionic Woman were both high school special ed teachers. Not real special ed, mind you, "quirky, unconventional character" special ed, the kind of class Kotter came back to.

I guess that in a loose sense, all of the instructors at Camp Hammond, but as for those who are teachers in their civiliain identities, Guy Gardner was a teacher for kids with disabilities. Wikipedia has him graduating from U of M with degrees in Education and Psychology. I don't know if that's still true today.

My uncle, my mother, and I are all teachers, and I have to say that all the heroes already mentioned must really believe in their cause(es) to spend a day teaching and then don their tights at night.

He was a gym teacher, actually, when the ring picked him originally.

Was black panther a teacher in anything other than the earths mightiest heroes miniseries?Yeah, he was a teacher in regular continuity back in the late 60s or early 70s. His run in Jungle Action reprinted a story where he was Luke Charles, a teacher in New York. Not sure where the reprint was from, but it might have been one of Marvel's compilation books.

I didn't know Reed had been a teacher. Well, there was the one issue where Doom trapped the FF in Liddleville, I guess ...

Oh, and I know one super-*villain* who was a teacher ... Paintball, From Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. I think he was in issues 2 and 3 ... he's an evil art teacher.

"Paintball"?

Seriously?

I give you: Paintball (http://www.mykey3000.com/cosmicteams/tommorrow/P/Paintball.htm).

"Paul Deisinger was an art teacher at Blue Valley High who was given superhuman powers and the identity of Paintball by the Dragon King...Paintball's body was composed of organic paint, making him immune to most conventional forms of attack. He could project streams of paint from his hands; some colors drained the life from a target, and some were used as concussive blasts."

I think this part said it all:

... nothing remained of Paintball except his goggles and a puddle of paint.
