Fables. It's the only Vertigo title I buy. Although I do love the idea of the Vertigo imprint even if I don't buy a lot of it.

I'm reading DMZ, Fables, Scalped and House of Mystery. Just started reading Vertigo and non-superhero stuff when I first picked up DMZ at around issue 20. Fables is my current favorite.
Ill eventually pick up the Sandman and Swamp Thing trades.

Fables, Jack of Fables, House of Mystery, Northlanders, Young Liars, Madame Xanadu in issues - DMZ, 100 Bullets in trade.
I may switch Young Liars to trade after the first arc - I haven't decided yet.

I am currently reading Fables and 100 Bullets in trade and just completed Y: The Last Man. I have also read Pride of Baghdad, Faker, Scene of the Crime, The Filth, and Sea Guy. The first Vertigo book I read was Y: The Last Man Vol. 1 in 2003. I am thinking about checking out Scalped and also Northlanders, House of Mystery, and Air when the first trades of those series come out.

I read Exterminators and Fables. I've decided to drop Young Liars (I'd rather read Stray Bullets right now) and Y: the Last Man is over with.
The first Vertigo book I read was V for Vendetta (in 2005) But I didn't get really into comics until last year- when I bought Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits, and I proceeded to spend the summer storming through Sandman, Moore's Swamp Thing and Y.
Y and Swamp Thing are definitely my favorites.
Fables. It's the only Vertigo title I buy. Although I do love the idea of the Vertigo imprint even if I don't buy a lot of it.
Agreed.
I confess! I buy a lot more mainstream Marvel junk than Vertigo.
It is a good gateway to indie/creato-owned comics.

I'm not reading any Vertigo titles on a monthly basis. I read Scalped by trades, though, and lately I've been checking out trades of some new series (well, fairly new) like Army @ Love, Un-Men and American Virgin (my comic shop's been having a sale), and while I think all those series are okay, nothing really warrants buying regularly.
The first Vertigo-comic I read was probably a Norwegian re-print of either Sandman or Hellblazer. Can't quite remember. My favourite Vertigo series would be either Shade, The Invisibles or Sandman Mystery Theatre. All very good books with their own particular flavour and style - something which seems to be lacking from Vertigo these days. Vertigo is playing it safe - from swearing to genitalia to plot structure and storytelling - it seems there's a glass ceiling on most things. The idea of Vertigo is very good, but the books need to deliver as well. I feel there's more risk-taking and innovation in both Marvel and DCs mainstream titles than there currently is in Vertigo (with the exception of Scalped, which, it must be said, is very good).
I don't really have a full view of the situation, though, as my comic shop (as most Norwegian comic shops) has stopped ordering single issues. There's nothing on the stands (there's no stand) so you have to order the stuff you want months in advance. Which makes the threshhold of checking out new series that much higher.
So what's good these days? The recent hits - Lucifer, 100 Bullets, Fables, Y, etc - has left me cold and indifferent. Even the American Splendor minis haven't really been all that great.

I'm reading Hellblazer and 100 bullets monthly and Scalped and Transmetropolitan on TPBs. My favorite Vertigo run would be Sandman, as a whole, I think, but I like a lot of stuff Vertigo is publishing. My first Vertigo comic was Sandman. I don't remember the issue number, it was either one from the Doll House, or the other story with the man who doesn't die (which is maybe my favorite story).

Been reading Scalped since first issue came out and loving it. same with Exterminators :frown: and D.M.Z. I tried a couple others but I think I'm gonna try out Y the Last Man, Swamp Thing and Preacher. Those I wouldn't mind slowly collecting trades of. I'm past that stage in
my young comic book readin career where I feel I absolutely have to plunk cash down for everything at the store.

Sandman - Neil Gaiman
Yeah mostly the big duh ones but they are so well known for a reason.
Oh and Demo now too since it's officially a Vertigo book.
First book:
The first one I remember paying any attention to was the last issue of Sandman and all the hub bub about it.
First book I looked at and was tempted to buy was Invisibles Volume 2 #1.
I think I got a Preacher book first though the one with Jesse in a trance wrapped by a snake.
