Man, I've got a LOOOOONG list of stuff to talk about. This is the tentative list. If anything else timely comes up in the next 48 hours, I'll squeeze more stuff in.
* Marvel's releasing MINI-MARVELS: ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS. I have a take on it that I feel like sharing. It's such a fun/cute book.
* Wild Image Speculation. Completely off the wall, but very much fun to theorize. I have NO insider information on this one. I just started thinking about it, and I have a fun suggestion/prediction.
* The controversial section: People are ready to boycott the Hyatt over its owners political point of view. I have a response. It's bound to get me in trouble, but it was fun to put together.
* Podcast Show Notes
* Maybe some last little thoughts, odds and ends, one-liners that fit nowhere else.
The following week, I'll get back to the comics spreadsheet and looking at more interesting oddities. Plus, some "Modern Masters" thoughts.

I take it all back. Just read Lying in the Gutters tonight. Rich's ideas are far more plausible for Image than mine. And Kirkman would make a perfect Image Partner.

I thought that same thing. If the Kirkman rumor is true, it makes perfect sense.

I thought that same thing. If the Kirkman rumor is true, it makes perfect sense.
And swooping a link from the Image board, the rumor is true:
Writer of the Undead Is Reborn as a Partner at Image Comics (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/22/books/22kirk.html?_r=2&oref=login&oref=slogin)
Good for Robert as he deserves all of the accolades he has gotten over the years.

Looking forward to your thoughts on this Augie. I have read the Walt Simonson, John Byrne and Mark Schultz books. Loved them all. Easy reads, but very informative. The artwork/sketches inclusion is awesome. I still have to read the Frank Cho and Mike Wieringo ones.

You really should stop trying to make political jabs in your pieces Augie - they just feel heavy handed and awkward when you do, even more so than the liberal views you feel a lot of writers express, and quite frankly it leaves a bad taste to see someone making fun of people supporting a civil rights movement - their way of doing it may not be that effective, but as with such things, it's more about shaming the owner/creating hoopla.
So yeah, it may be a silly thing to boycott a bar, but that whole section of Pipeline was dead space.
Edit: That reads like I'm more offended and down about it than I actually am.

On a different note though, in an interview at newsarama, Kirkman says if we want to see the first step in images plan, the image panel at the con is the place to go, so I guess that means his announcement isn't the big shock, and they have something else up their sleeves.
In other words, the column could have the answer in there.

Jim Valentino has essentially said that the Kirkman news is the first of the two big announcements...
it's also been said (over at the Image Boards, I think) that the 2nd announcement will make Image the top destination for creators again...
Personally, I think Rich Johnston is pretty much on the money.

I actually am glad you wrote about the Hyatt and the anti-equal rights owner. I had no idea before. I'll be at Comic-Con on Thursday and I guarantee you I won't go to that bar.
With that being said, equal rights and union laws are two very different things.
Thanks for the article.
