View Full Version : Marvel characters that will rise up in the near future

Here are my picks:
1. Moon Knight. Among the B/C listers he has one of the most interesting backstory. Egyptian lore, soldier of fortune, city defender that's not "crippled" literally and figuratively, and Spector's penchant for sharp edges. The theme similarity to Batman can be both a detriment or an advantage, but MK is unique enough to carry his own brand of justice.
2. Ms Marvel. If Marvel can keep up the momentum, Ms Marvel is the only legitimate counter to Wonder Woman.
3. Nova. Actually this is depending on how Marvel cosmic is growing and rise in importance. Marvel cosmic is Nova's playground and he's the most popular one among the cosmics.

Well, maybe Moon Knight will get back on the high B/A list if/when the SHRA is revoked.

Daken. No, I'm really not kidding.

Certainly Nova...but since he's not really mainstream, it's tough to see how much exposure he'll get before politics get in the way.
Other characters I've found interesting are...uhh...

They can coexist, they're not mutually exclusive.

Ms. Marvel is definetly on the rise. I just wish they would tone down the sex appeal, it is not all that interesting.
Hopefully Moondragon & Hellcat... but that is just wishful thinking. :frown:
Hank Pym has been getting alot of attention lately, which means Janet can't be far behind.

I can see Hellcat rise of prominence. She's a female Spider-Man right?

In terms of becoming legitimate A-listers? No one.

Not exactly... she is a telepathic martial artist. She gains extra strength from her suit, but Moondragon trained her so that she is a competent fighter without it. Also she has claws. lol.

I'm thinking if Ms. Marvel hasn't captured the hearts of readers at THIS point, she aint never gonna.

To attest to this, I actually picked up Moon Knight #20 recently, and am sad that I hadn't picked up the title earlier. I think I'll pick up issue 21 and if I like that, I'll probably add it to my pull list as my 20th title.

Very true, unfortunately. Nobody is going to have the prominence of Spiderman or Wolverine.

We can argue if she has risen or not yet, but Spider-Woman.
We can argue if she has risen or not yet, but Spider-Woman.
Since the Spider Woman we've seen is a skrull, I guess technically everything we've seen from her up to this point hasn't counted. So she's going from literally nothing to getting her own seires... that's gotta be a pretty big rise on her part.
As for characters I'm looking out for in the near future... I'll say Spider woman, Moon Knight, and Marvel Boy (perhaps the new Captain Marvel after SI).

Emma Frost, War Machine, and X-Force I think will all become major A Listers in the next year.

It seems Spider-Woman will since she'll be getting her own mini series post SI.

In the immediate one to three years I'd expect to see a lot of extra print for War Machine in support of an Iron Man II film. And I think they're going to keep pushing the geek-sex through Ms. Marvel but I think Emma Frost might be a bit over-the-top.
Once there are good options for an IRL Ms. Marvel I think that'd push her over-the-edge out of mainstream obscurity.

Deadpool...
New series, fightin' Skrulls. He doesn't have to share a title with Cable anymore.

Ms.Marvel and hopefully Cloak and Dagger. I do see them making little cameos and whatnot.

Yes, Deadpool.
Deadpool will be more popular because of the 2009 Wolverine film. Soon more people will know the funny talking, gun toting ninja.

Nova is on the rise currently.
If the Wolverine movie is good, I could see Deadpool getting a big push from that and his new solo. Daniel Way is so hit or miss though.

They can coexist, they're not mutually exclusive.
Agreed. In fact, Noh-Varr might be a good foil for Genis.
Amadeus Cho
Ian McNee
Noh-Varr
Dakken
Layla Miller
I agree with this list (except for Daken). Plus, I think the sky is the limit for many of the Runaways cast, especially Molly Hayes and Sister Grimm.

Thank god for that because Cable's new title sucks, the farther away Wade is from Cable the better!

Thankfully, this is fantastic news because the new Cable ongoing is just terribly bad and the farther away Wade is from Cable the better, IMO...
