I have a feeling this book might get Axed
It dosent fit at all in the X part of the Marvel Universe, while Uncanny X-men X-men Legacy, Astonishing, Cable,X-force,Young Xmen and X-factor all has a role in the X-universe
It looks to me New Exiles is trying to make it but is not working

Exiles hasn't ever really fit in the line... it's like a satellite of a satellite.

Actually, it's not even edited within the X-Office anymore iirc (like Wolverine Origins).

Like I've said before, CC shows flashes of his old greatness sometimes, and other times he'll drop the ball. I don't believe he's written anything that qualifies as a complete stinker since "New" Exiles got started, but there's still stuff that he fails to explain or that he gets wrong (such as Slaymaster thinking of Betsy as "the one that got away" when he had never tried to kill her).

Yesterday I wondered if it might be a good idea to team him up with somebody else, like he used to work with Byrne. To cite another example of where this has worked, Carlos Pacheco took over as FF writer after Claremont left for the X-book "Revolutions". The stories Pacheco wrote were okay, but I didn't like 'em as much as the FF stories Claremont had written. Then they teamed Pacheco up with Jeph Loeb, a plotter/scripter deal, and it got better.

See, this is something I don't understand. If you're not buying the book, why do you care so much about what happens to it?

That's like me saying "oooo, I HATE cauliflower SO MUCH! It tastes TERRIBLE! I don't buy it and I don't have to buy it and I definitely don't have to eat it, but I nevertheless DEMAND that all cauliflower in the world be destroyed, right now! Because it SUCKS!"

Because many people had to drop Exiles, a fan-favorite, once CC desecrated it. And because some of us hate how he's desecrating our favorite characters.

It's not so much they want it AXED, but more they want to see a new creative team and/or characters.

I for one rather enjoyed the old line ups and creative teams.
This new stuff isn't working for me and I would like a return to the old style.

CmX is a Psylocke Fan.

Claremont is creating a strangehold on the character.

Psylocke fans would prefer she be written by any other writer.

It is not so different than us Dazzler/Nocturne/CB Mythos/Juggernaut fans screaming "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KILL THIS TITLE SO THESE CHARACTERS/CONCEPTS CAN BE FREED!" during NEX.

Psylocke fans don't want CC writing her.
Old Exiles fans (such as moi) want the title reinvigorated under competent creatorship.

She (like the rest of congress) was fed questionable information and she came from a state that'd just lost 3000 lives in the largest attack in history on US soil. Early on, no one was opposing Bush.

She's been a HUGE critic of the administration since casting that initial vote though, and served on the armed services committee. She's hardly "soft on Bush" and unlike Obama, she's not following Bush's lead on FISA or faith based initiatives.

There probably are some, actually.

Sure, a ton of them are bitter and will tell you that she got robbed in Michigan and Florida and say that the primary coverage was biased and all sorts of other stuff.

On the other hand, one thing about some hardcore Hillary supporters is that they will do pretty much whatever she tells them, and she did tell them to "...work as hard for Obama as you have for me." So some of her supporters will do that, even if they may not be happy about it.

EDIT: Gah, double post, sorry 'bout that.

It's not so much they want it AXED, but more they want to see a new creative team and/or characters.

I'd say "be careful what you wish for." I mean if you like any of the characters that aren't CC creations (Morph and AoA Sabes for instance), they are probably not going to show up in any non-Exiles book afterwards. So it would be better to wish for CC to be taken off the book than for the book itself to die.

The other thing to think about if you don't care for Claremont's work is that if this book gets axed, they might put him on another one. Maybe one that you like!

In the CC appreciation thread I said that he was like Michael Jordan in that his most recent comeback attempt isn't working out so well, but he was damn good back in the day. I now think it's more accurate to compare him to The Simpsons: it was great 10 or 15 years ago, and in recent years the good episodes aren't as good and there are a bunch of bad ones to go with 'em.

Don't get all BLACK POWER!!! in here with me.

You wouldn't actually vote McCain would you?

Whats Black Power about her cosigning with Bush on the war.

I voted Clinton both times back in the day. That Broke my lil heart when she did that!!

Yeah, that's one reason I didn't want her getting the nomination, although recently Obama has started taking positions that make me worry about him as well. McCain would be more Bush-like than Obama, of that I have no doubt, but I'd like the next President to be an anti-Bush.

Nah I usually agree with you on most things Novaya but IMO I'd have to say Obama's much smarter then her, heck he'd give Bill Clinton a run for his money in the cunning department.
Realistically a good leader is one who can take something and do a complete U-turn without anyone realizing it therefore cunning and guile is a must. A great leader is one who would do whatever it takes to ensure the countries stability or in America's case economic stability which believe it or not is what Bush and his advisers ensured however Bush's fault comes in that he's not a great spokesmen and he's quite...what's the word slow.
The proof that Obama is smarter is in his actions. When he was Senator both McCain and Clinton fell into the trap when it came to voting on important issues. They both voted which is pretty much their downfall, Obama on the other hand spent most of his time in the bathroom. He abstained from voting on those issues which IMO is pure genius.
I personally feel that he'd be a good president for the States because he possesses the "qualities" of all great leaders...but then again there's a huge con that comes with him becoming President. Do we really want such a clever man in power? Wait never mind I don't think that's even a question anymore when we consider the options....clever man vs. crazy senile man.

Hillary would've been a smoother transition, as she was largely viewed as more centrist anyway. Obama's only swung that direction now that the primary's over, and arguably too quickly at that... the anybody-but-Hillary-netroots movement that positioned him to follow Dean's groundwork already started turning on him (and he in turn's already started belittling them) and the GOP's already started the GE flop-flopper smear.

Hillary's no different from the average politician, but that was never an issue. The shock for most is that Obama's turning out no different either, despite the campaign's early message...

I'd say Obama ran the smarter campaign, which in itself says something about leadership and direction. The man himself though, he's made far far more mistakes in speech and position than Hillary, not to mention he has his own questionable past associations. He's not spotless, and the more his record comes out, the more he actually speaks off the cuff, the worse it's been for him. Obama makes a better symbol than he does a presidential candidate frankly.

I won't vote for McCain, but if when November comes Obama has lost too much of my respect I'll either vote for nobody, or for Nader, or I'll write somebody in, whatever.
Had the mainstream media picked up on Obama's record earlier, there honestly wouldn't be that expectation anyway. Washington politics and Chicago politics aren't all that removed in terms of ideology or process, and neither is Obama's record frankly. Hell, he won his first state senate seat by disqualifying his opponents on 11th hour technicalities (one of which was the democratic incumbent) so he could run uncontested; this is the "new politic"?

I think there's a real danger that the campaign's inherent message that won him the primary could very well lose him the general... being a politician denouncing politics is a risky strategy even when it pays off, and if the GOP successfully paints Obama as the manchurian hypocrite (and frankly, his recent position "nuancing" isn't hurting that effort) we may have McSame in the White House next year. Which is probably worse case scenario honestly.

In fairness, their creepy messiah message and positioning early on turned me off entirely, and Obama inviting an ex-gay evangelist on his platform in SC clinched it for me. I went from a strong Edwards supporter to reluctant Hillary supporter to strong Hillary supporter to reluctant Obama supporter... but with recent moves like supporting FISA, supporting faith based initiatives, denouncing the DC gun ban (after he spoke in support of it months ago), speaking against mental health as a justification for late term abortion (WTF!!!), supporting the death penalty, etc, etc... Obama's lost me. He's a charlatan, he has zero integrity, he has all the racial nuance of a drunk Bill Cosby (and make no mistake, the established Black leadership knows that) and his disingenuous snow job might destroy my party and maybe even by extension my country.

I've decided to vote on principles, which is why I'll vote for Nader in the fall. Even if it elects McCain for the next four years, I can't in all good conscious vote for Obama. I can't put that man in office.

A writer who really knows humanity and how people think and talk should take this up and do something with it. That baby meant the entire world to Tbird. He sacrificed his life for it and TJ.

God I need me some more Nocturne.

So you would rather have McCain in.. Tell me Im not gonna have to suffer from Liberal guilt Like I did when some Dems didnt vote for Gore or Kerry. No wonder we are so frakked up as a nation!! Ill will say this, if you do not vote democrat and mccain wins Im lumping you in with Limbaugh repubs.

I hate so called liberals that have a blank spot on their vehicles bumper where their Bush/Cheney 00 and 04 campaign stickers used to be.

I voted for Gore and Kerry. I wouldn't rather have McCain in, but I live in NYC.... New York's going to Obama regardless, so I'll vote on principles rather than strategy. Funny enough, that's the argument Obamabots used against Hillary too.

Obama got where he is on liberal guilt, a cooperative press, an army of blind idealists (whose current bitter tears are rather enjoyable admittedly) and an embellished history. Only a frakked up nation would've allowed that to happen in the first place.

Not voting for Obama is hardly the same as casting a vote for McCain, Excelsior. I'd never put a Bush/Cheney sticker on my car, nor a McCain one.

When I'm given a choice between what I see as two evils, though, I'm not willing to choose either. If I were, I'd be directly responsible (at least in part) for whatever happened as a result. If I do nothing, other people are responsible.

EDIT: Having said all that, Obama hasn't lost me YET.

Just for fun, what would your dream team of Exiles consist of? Assume for the purposes of this hypothetical scenario that they're being written by somebody you're sure won't screw anything up.

I was thinking that I'd like to see 616 Rachel Grey and MC2 Franklin Richards. She's lost the Franklin she loves twice, so if she could get together with another one and he didn't die on her I'd be happy.

Here's another idea: put Wire from Doom 2099 on the team. I mean Wire from before Warren Ellis took over and made the poor bastard first go crazy and finally commit suicide. :frown:

Also, bring back Nocturne and Thunderbird, just so they can discuss getting pregnant again at some point and we can finally find out WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST BABY!

Yeah, that'd work for people who want to see more infighting on the team, certainly.

Here's the reason I fear NEW EXILES will be gone, possibly soon:

1) SALES. The sales on EXILES have been steady for many years. Right in the 30-33K range, with little movement. But since Claremont took over, sales have fallen below 30K....and last I checked the month-to-month drops are noticable.

It's not often when the status quo actually keeps sales steady for several years, but somehow Winick and Austen and Bedard did it. Claremont - focusing on events and characters from his own writing past (hasn't Slaymaster shown up again?) - is sadly driving people away.

2) They rarely seem to take a book away from Claremont without cancellation and/or a complete relaunch. The fact that they already cancelled & relanuched EXILES for Claremont's sake makes me doubtful they'll do that again for someone else. NEW EXILES seems very much like the last hurrah for Morph & Co.

So.....

How about that religion thing?

Hell, long as we've brought up one of the two things that it's wise to avoid talking about, might as well bring up the other.

Personally I think religion's fine as long as religious people focus on applying those beliefs to their own lives rather than trying to convince other people to behave in a certain way if those other people aren't interested.

dont state the obvious. Its not allowed.

Secondly, Sage should be all powerful.. I hope it happens....can you believe in this day of male dominated omega level heroes--he gets knocked for cranking out uber-powerful ladies.
