I'm so sick and tired of the commercials for this movie. I mean, I personally think that it's going to be horrible for a number of reasons.
-Unlikable, smarmy main character
-Out dated gags
-Horrible monkey jokes
And we all know it'll bomb since it committed box office suicide by facing "The Dark Knight".
Anyone else being constantly reminded of this movie?

Just twice.
You made this thread twice, by accident. I'm explaining that so that my little joke will still be hilarious when the other threads falls of the page/gets deleted.
I will see this movie on cable for sure. It involves animated monkeys.

I agree with the OP to a degree. I've only seen a trailer twice, but that was two times too many.
I think Patrick Warburton will be funny as always, but as has been said, the lead monkey is smarmy and annoying.
The only non-pixar computer animated thing that looked interesting to me thus far is "Bolt."

It's a movie aimed at the 8 and under crowd whose parents won't be (or shouldn't be) taking them to see The Dark Knight.
Why this should upset a bunch of comic nerds on the internet, I have no idea?

If someone even talks about something funny, we get upset.
Look, the movie just looks bad. The rule of thumb is to make the main character somewhat likable, and they fail there. If that fails, try to be original in your jokes, and they don't do that, either.
It's a damn shame that they chose this Friday.

So you want to have your kid's role model be a smartass monkey that talks back to everyone?

I don't know. I haven't seen the film. Maybe he has a conversion in the end and learns a lesson.
What I wouldn't do is bitch about a film on the internet based on a trailer.
