Scott Allie (W), Mario Guevara (P), Dave Stewart (C), John Cassaday (Cover), and Laura Martin (Cover Colors)

On sale Oct 29; FC, 32 pages; $2.99; Miniseries

“It has fallen upon me, now and again in my sojourns through the world, to ease various evil men of their lives.”

Mysteries emerge during†Solomon Kane’s stay in the Castle of the Devil—the beasts that prey upon the local peasantry make their presence known, and another body is discovered. Kane begins to doubt the legends about the ancient chapel beneath the castle. Did a devil-worshiping monk really die there at the hands of his brothers, or was there something even more sinister afoot? And what lives down there now?

Expands upon Robert E. Howard’s unfinished “Castle of the Devil.”

“With art and writing that perfectly captures the pulp weirdness of his birth, Solomon Kane officially becomes the only Puritan I’ve ever been a fan of. Don’t miss out on these weird tales, you’ll regret it.”
—Ed Brubaker (Award-winning writer of Captain America, Criminal, and Iron Fist)

You know, I am definitely loving my Dark Horse more and more. Not sure how many Zippos I need but the stories are excellent and I can't wait to read Solomon Kane.

The Hellboy cover is unlike anything I've seen for the character. It's somehow fundamentally different from everything I've seen before.

So "In the Chapel of Moloch" is Mignola's take on Pickman's Model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickman%27s_Model), a story that needs no introduction among horror fans (but I linked it anyway!).

If you ask me, Pickman's was Lovecraft's scariest story, and given the downright terrifying nature of Hellboy's current outing (Crooked Man!), this one-shot could be deliciously creepy.

Man, a self-contained story spanning 20+ pages of pure, unbridled Mignola art... If ever there was one must-get issue that I can't wait for in a trade, this is it. And what a killer cover! Quite a dense bit of composition -- a refreshing change of pace after so many relatively sparse cover layouts.

Giant robots and a Mignola-drawn HB story.

You can't even beat that with a rocketpack and a monkey with a gun!

That cover is obnoxiously good. Mike & Dave make my brain hurt.

The Moloch cover seems to have another signature beside Mike´s. And some of the art on that cover looks like it´s done by Duncan F. What do you guys think ??

The Moloch cover art is damn good, and the color is absolutely freaking awesome. I mean, I have never seen color that incredible. Look at it again. Brilliant!

P.S. It's almost as if HB stumbled into the climax of Baltimore.

I thought that at first, too. It took me a moment to realize that the off-kilter boxes weren't non-diegetic Stan-and-Jack-style "also in this issue" frames, but actual on-scene canvases that Hellboy is standing next to. There's some precedent in the Prague drawings from the 2004 sketchbook, and things of that type. It does look 'Hella'-different, though. I can't immediately recall anything this busy. And it's got that Nancy Drew candle again! Yay!

Don't feel bad, I just have it because it's on my pull list, I never know when stuff comes out unless it is written in the back of the comic book.

For what is in shops *this* week, click on "New Releases" in the left column of the page linked above.

(I'd cut and past the URL, but it may change from week to week, not sure.)

Cannot wait for the Moloch book!

And yes, I instantly thought Duncan when I saw the cover. Either way, it is very different from what's come before, and October can't get here quick enough.
