APE ENTERTAINMENT
Black Coat 48-Page Special, $6.95
DC COMICS
Booster Gold #1000000, $2.99 - easily one of DC's top 3 books right now creatively
Final Crisis Requiem #1 (Doug Mahnke/JG Jones covers), $3.99 - not sure about this one. I've been underwhelmed with the main series so I may limit the tie-ins to only the Legion of 3 Worlds with George Perez art.
MARVEL COMICS
Captain America White #0 (Regular Tim Sale Cover), $2.99 - I have the other "color" mini series. Loeb has not written anything I've been interested in for some time so I'm buying this mainly for Sale's art.
Guardians Of The Galaxy #3, $2.99 - nice start to the series.
Iron Man Legacy Of Doom #4 (of 4), $2.99 - definite 80's feel which may not appeal to some people.
Last Defenders #5 (of 6), $2.99 - underwhelming series so far but I will stick it out to see if Casey had a bigger picture in mind.
Nova #15, $2.99
Powers #29, $3.95
Secret Invasion #4 (Regular Gabriele Dell Otto Cover), $3.99

Already? I just got my books from last week yesterday!
DARK HORSE
BPRD The Warning #1 (of 5), $2.99 - Good to have Guy Davis back on art!
DC COMICS
Action Comics #867, $2.99 - I really need to start putting dent in my stack of Geoff Johns written Supermans piling up next to my bed.
MARVEL COMICS
Amazing Spider-Man #565, $2.99 - Really liked Guggenheim's first arc so I have high hopes for his second one.
Captain Britain And Mi 13 #3 (Secret Invasion Tie-In), $2.99 - This gets a flip test. Just read the first couple of issues and wasn't completely convinced that this a book that I have to read on a monthly basis.
Guardians Of The Galaxy #3, $2.99 - Turning out to be a really AWESOME book!
Invincible Iron Man #3 (Salvador Larroca/Travis Charest covers), $2.99 - Still reading despite finally coming down from my movie high and general disregard for Larocca's current art style - must be the Fraction factor!
Nova #15, $2.99 - DnA have sucked me into reading this book.
Secret Invasion #4 (Regular Gabriele Dell Otto Cover), $3.99 - First book I read this week.
Ultimate Origins #2 (of 5)(Gabriele Dell Otto/Simone Bianchi covers), $2.99 - Let's hope the second issue is better than the first.

Wildguard Insider #3
well I really liked issues 1 and 2, but I feel like I have seen everything this series is going to show me already. Is there anything in issue 3 that would really stand out and make it special?
Maybe something involving a pipeline mascot?
anything?

Sir, it is quite possible that the third and final issue of Wildguard Insider may fill that very hankering.
It is, indeed, in all likelihood that it may contain something special and standoutish involving a Pipeline mascot (though such a title hardly would hardly seem deserving to that particular person at this point).
A short, 2-page something... but something, none-the-less.
So, y'know... why not just go ahead and complete your run? You might find that very thing you're looking for.
And it might be located on pages 22 and 23.
Maybe.
Who knows?

Well I bought it, and you did a great job Tracie. 2 pages was not nearly enough for me, but it looked great!
(and as a bonus there is a strong bot story, I always liked that character in the first mini).
Congrats Tracie!

Wildguard Insider #3
Even though I've never read the book, I gave your 2 page story a read. Have no idea what was going on but the art was really good - nice job!
WARNING: SPOILERS!!!
From Last Week:
Berlin #16 (Drawn and Quarterly) - by Jason Lutes. Nothing unusual or out of the ordinary for this issue, same ole, same ole. Sad but good, with the usual feeling that I'm reading History. More interesting than high school lessons, but knowing how it all plays out, irl, I don't understand where this book is headed.
Wildguard: Insider #3 (of 3) (Image) - by Todd Nauck & others. Not being a regular fan of the series, I was not sure what to expect, but these were the parts I noted:
'Audition Tapes' - thought it was a bit talky with all the stuff going on and it didn't really interest me in the Wildguard world.
'Conductra' - the short uniform voting story was kinda good & the art excellent.
'Wannabe Fan Mail' - It was short but sweet!
'Strong-bot' - Okay but nothing special. I guess the nature of the shorts cut this one off from being better.
'Running Girl' - Ahhh..the reason I got this book. ;) Tracie Mauk as artist, Nauck as writer and Jeremy Treece on color. Like the above story, it was just too short to develop into anything more interesting than it was. While the art was good, the colorist was a bit heavy on the use of an amber-like tone throughout. I understand a large part of it was flashback, but the whole thing just kinda blended together, making it look kinda confusing.
The back covers, were both excellent! The back, inside one, by Pat Carlucci & Carmine Vitiello, was cheesecake but still managed to successfully pull off the comedy gag. The outside back cover was uncredited but also impressive.
Ninja High School #161 (Antarctic Press) - by Robby Bevard (story, tones, letters - unless there's another person with the same name) & Ben Dunn on art. I was decieved on this one. Not getting this book for some time now, a brief look told me it might be good. It was not. It was very cheesecakey, playing down to the audience (of immature or stunted adolescents), there was an odd flashback scene that went on and on and not being a regular, the ending was totally confusing. I know Dunn can do better than this and Bevard needs to be able to make a more mature book.
Wonder Woman #22 (DC) - by Simone, Lopresti, Ryan & Anderson (color). This book was jam packed with stuff! Which was a good way to bring everything up to speed quickly, but I think it compromised the overall book a bit by being too packed. Not sure if this was a writing, editorial or art thing. Everything was loaded with words and the gorilla thing was oddly put in. I wondered why everyone was throwing their swords and successfully, I might add. Um, what's the point of having one if you are just going to throw it away? It's not like Thor's Hammer. The ending was odd. I wasn't sure if Gail was going for some Patriotic moment or something but I was liking the end until I see they ended up in the Washington Momument 'pool'.
Joker's Asylun: The Penguin #1 (DC) - by Aaron, Pearson & McCaig (color). Got this based on the fact that I hadn't seen Pearson art in some time. While it was nice, it did not really fit the story like it should have. I found the actual story to be kinda 'tame' for what it started out as and what Pearson is capable of. Also, his Cobblepot looked kinda out of place by looking too meek at times.
Action Comics #867 (DC) - by Johns, Frank, Sibal (ink) & Anderson (colors). This was very good! Loved the action & the art, from start to finish. Though I don't care how big the universe is, if Brainiac is simply going around, blowing up planets for no reason, someone's got to notice, right?!??
Batman Confidential #19 (DC) - by Nicieza, Maguire & I.L.L. (colors). While the character's sometimes contort grotesquely, this book is one thing...FUN!! I can't help but have a large smile the whole time I read this book by these creators! It's immensely fun, I highly recommend getting this book any time they make it!
I Kill Giants #1 (Image) - by Kelly & JM Ken Niimura. Overall, this book reminds me of something that Sam Keith would have done. The art is kinda like his, but not as detailed as it's kinda sparce in places. The story was fun, but set up for more chracter depth that would mess up (in a good way) the fun of the story, overall. Even the back cover story about the making of...was fun to read. The D&D gaming was awesome! But I don't understand her bunny ears. What the hell is that? She already has hats throughout the issue, are they real or imagined? I will wait for issue 2.
Hot Mexican Love Comics - There is apparently no parent company that made this oversized book, just some people. In Canada, I think. The cover hints of fun on the inside, but that is questionable. Much like the Wildguard: Insider book I read, many of the individual stories were simply too short to be enjoyed to fully develop into more interesting things. The short, hints, sometimes work, but mostly not.
Again, only noting the ones of interest here:
Stories by - Bennett (possibly the best of the bunch), Leigh & John Fountain (John's art needed a more finished look), Bob Bowen, Anthony Vukojevich, Reynosa & Spaulding (predictable but funny), Berden (great all around art & story), Clouden (good, fun but too short), Liz Climo (very funny).
The back had faux/real bios on all the creators and this writing was pretty funny for most of them.
