Prior to the cancer story, could anyone please tell me the title of the arc and its issue numbers?

Prior to the current arc, the series was actually a little disjointed, thanks to a change in the creative team. Kelly's run ended with 19. 20, 21, and 22 were Amazons Attack and Countdown tie-ins. 23 and 24 were Sinestro Corps War tie-ins.

Finally, something resembling an actual story emerges in 25 with Reactron, and then in 26 the Cancer story begins.

So, the short answer, there was no cohesive story arc preceding this one, unless you go back into Joe Kelly's run. The issues leading up to 20, I believe, are collected in the "Identity" trade.
